Blasphemy!! Why celebrate craftsmanship when we can have:

1. I wouldn't buy a 991 even if I had a billion dollars (aka my 997 is last of the classic porsches); or
2. pdk vs manual - does the pdk make me less of a man??

Thoughts on paint.. thinking maybe just leaving unpainted until I take it in. I don't want to put some cheap rattle can paint on it.

I guess they can just take that off though?

Finally someone is making this! Always wanted to see how this would look on a 997 after seeing the Singer Porsches with similar setups

I really wish someone would make one for the 997 that is similar to the Singer unit.

I applaud your ingenuity. I'd love to have a bit more lip at the back--just for cosmetic and heritage reasons, but the spoilers on the market now are too aggressive. I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

The only possible drawbacks I can see are extra stress on the spoiler motor or mounts (doubtful) or some weird wind noise that you can't anticipate without a wind tunnel (also pretty doubtful).

Don't listen to the naysayers. Carry on!

Ditto. Press on. I have a TT tail in the mail but thought about making my own retro 80's era custom Carerra tail.

RE Paint, Plastidip in a can. But put it on thick as its easier to pull of if you dont like it.

quick update.. basically this is a pain in the ***. I have at least 10 rounds of filler and sanding into this. I ended up buying a micrometer to measure everything. I have it less than .5mm now everywhere which I feel is pretty good by hand. My guess is the body shop I take it to for paint can finish it up even better.

It is ready for a glazing putty and primer which I hope to get done tomorrow. The temps here are going to be 50 or so the next 2 days which is unreal for this time of year. I hope the rain breaks for an hour so I can go for a test run.
