Winter is a good time to buy
I found mine in January and bought it in February. Thinking back, this is the third convertible I have bought over a winter. I think it's generally the best time to have a minute to consider the purchase and even negotiate a little better price. Have your cash ready when you're looking and be ready to get on a plane when you find the most likely candidate. Fortunately, I only took one trip. Good luck; have fun with your search. I did.

2005 Carrera

This one looks pretty clean, and it's 22 miles from me. $34K for 36,000 mile 2005 Carrera manual. No mention of the IMS situation or if it's an early build date engine. I probably would have checked this out if it was for sale last fall.

Here is a very well optioned X51 4S cab in an interesting color. Miles are high, but still a cool car for a cheap price. Can anyone run Carfax from the plate or Vin? Would be interesting to see history. I remember seeing it for sale last year.

Dang, too bad you weren't around last year. One with $27k miles, fully loaded C2S, 2011 I believe, in cream white, PDK, sold for $54k. The car was for sale forever; what a difference a year makes. The market has really heated up since then. Of course, if/when the market deflates, expect prices to come right back down again.

Thanks raidersfan, but I only want a Carrera. For some unknown reason I don't like white gauges in these cars, I have no idea what they look like at night but during the day I much prefer my black... Ralph

You can get gauge faces from FVD to change them to black or other colors. The gauge cluster comes out pretty easily and send it off with the new faces and they send it back. Or if you have a steady hand you can do it at home.

At night the white faces look black. Or rather, you can't tell they're white.

Check out http://www.rideslist.com It's pretty awesome.
Also... You can setup alerts on IFTTT and Craigslist for keywords - That's pretty cool too - https://ifttt.com/applets/103160p-ge...slist-listings

Thanks for the search tips beni. I also looked at the prices for the black gauge faces, YOW! It'd cost me nearly 8/900 to convert and I'd have to do it myself, YOW! I'm glad I'm starting my search early and of course I would still have to sell my guy as well, quite a project but worthwhile I think... R.

You're very welcome. Just keep your eyes open. I feel like if they do car meets local to you that would be a cool way to make connections etc. I typically email mechanics in the area if they have leads on cars as well.
