This morning I received an Autotrader alert for a very rare spec 997TT: Cream White, Natural Brown, 25k miles, manual tranny...for sale here: https://www.pcarautogallery.com/2009...urbo-c-298.htm
Based on the fact that the seller is a dealer who specializes in Porsches, and the description uses the words 'legendary' and 'investment', I'm sure they won't be giving it away. It's listed with the ever-annoying "call for price."

This one totally caught my attention because the color combo is identical to the 997.2 C2S I just bought a couple months ago (pics of mine below)...except this one has a couple turbos slapped on it. I can say firsthand that the Brown Natural Leather interior is incredible in person. I like mine so much I don't want to get out of it!

@JRitt@essex Now that is going to go big. I know it's for a certain taste but that color combination is straight fire. I think the Porsche "cream" is superb.

Never been huge on cream white personally but it works well with the natural brown interior, and it's impressively specced with pretty much all the best options and it's an 09 to boot. Probably a "you're not overpaying, you're paying early" type of car.

@lexhair I agree...that one should get all the money. I was a bit scared to pull the trigger on my cream car, having never seen the color in person. I was incredibly pleased when the car arrived however. The second it came out of the carrier I knew it was for me. The cream/brown combo feels so warm and luxurious. I totally get it that the brown and cream combo is polarizing and not for everyone though. What’s funny is that I was primarily looking at much ‘louder’ colors like yellow, orange, red, and blue. Oops! 😂
I have a set of Forgline Fuchs style (FU3C) wheels on order with bronze centers. They will use the colors like the wheel below. I think they are really going to complement the natural brown interior. I’ll be sure to post pics when the arrive. 👍

Scoring is a much bigger issue than many realize or want to admit and there are tons of people driving .1s out there with scoring and don't even know about it because it can be asymptomatic at first.

The price differences between comparable .1s and .2s is fairly significant. People are paying for perceived reliability of the .2 manual over that of the .1 with the M97.

For instance, this 2007 997.1 C4S manual with 25k miles, factory areo kitt and a crazy amount of options just brought $50,500 on BAT 1 1/2 months ago. That is over 30K less than the 997.2 C4S that just sold on PCA Market with much fewer options.

25k-Mile 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe 6-Speed for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $50,500 on December 28, 2020 (Lot #41,053) | Bring a Trailer
@Doug H Knowing the premiums in the market today of a 997.2 over a similar 997.1, there is a real argument for never moving up from a 997.1 to a 997.2 based on the engine issues. Why pay up now for to address a small %-age likelihood that you will have to deal with an IMS or BoreScoring issue on the 997.1 if you can play the equivalent of that premium later to get the engine upgraded (3.6=>3.8 or 3.8=>4.0) if it happens. You probably wind with a 997.1 w/ similar performance to the equivalent 997.2 from a HP/Torque perspective. It seems like almost everything else (steering wheel, LED lights, Bluetooth, etc.) can be upgraded on the 997.1 and I’ve heard/read quite a few folks who prefer the stock sound of the OEM exhaust of the 997.1 over the 997.2, so maybe you also avoid an expensive exhaust upgrade for “what it sounds like” reasons. . .

The other way to think about it, it that the cost of upgrading the engine is a reasonable premium for a 997.2 over a 997.1, so maybe the market isn’t too far off of a rationale position. . . It remains to be seen in the long run how 997.1s that have rebuilt engines w/ larger bores hold up in the market. . .

FYI, this car sold at auction earlier this month. Here's what they paid. I bet their mark up will be 'legendary'

Are you sure it is the same car? Seems like auction would have showed up on CarFax.

NM, I found it. Very strange it went though an auction.

AllThingsPorsche is not highly thought of around here by others on here. I have no opinion on them and I have always admired their inventory.

This! 2021 was my year to move into my first 911 and seeing all of this a bit depressing. And what I want seems to be what selling like hot cakes, 997.2, 6-speed, C2S. I try to console myself by saying “I’ll just go for 997.1, there are plenty of them”. But then I think about that $20K+ hit I would take if you know what happens. Sure you could PPI it, but the way they are selling how many sellers are going to be patient enough to let you get that invasive when they can sell it to the next guy with a wad of cash and is none the wiser? I hate to be a downer, but I hope the bubble pops, not to screw over the next guy, but so I get my shot at one. Selfish? Maybe, but I’d feel a lot better about being called selfish with a set of Porsche keys in my pocket.

The cream Turbo is gorgeous, but my first though was, 'would look even better in Cocoa leather'. (Yes, I am biased.) The wheels should look fantastic. Can't wait to see.

Wow, I need those wheels for my 997 GT3. Sweet! What's their weight and size?

here’s one that just sold on Carvana for $65.5k. This is a bubble, driven by everyone stuck at home with nothing better to do than bid on cars on high visibility auction websites.

As I said above, mid $60s seems about right for a C4S manual with mind 25k miles. The $83k without buyer's premium C4S with 20k miles, albeit a sweet car with Turbo IIs, seem to be an outlier.

I think mid mid to upper $60s for these cars with 25k miles or less is no bubble and here to stay.

There are still cars out there that would meet your criteria and aren’t way over priced, but you probably won’t find one in the 50k range. Until I bought mine I used to manually search each major city in CL and would find at least 2 each week, some of which I listed here. Depends on how much time you invest in deep searches.
