I just reported it to Craigslist. They are pretty quick about taking them down, unlike Carfax and Autotrader who in my opinion are complicit in frauds. Buy enough ads and you are a "preferred" dealer....even if the cars don't exist.

 

I inquired about the car just to see what kind of respose I'd get. The "seller" responded:

I don’t think this is a legitimate site. It’s a front to a potential buyer of that car. They will pretend to act as broker, take your money. Never see the car.

 

Yup, one of the most common phishing techniques out there. I see it a lot more these day . Fewer and fewer legitimate sellers on craigslist unfortunately.

 

So how does this play through. Lets say he has my e-mail, what happens next ?

 

Once you are sucked in they will try to get your name, address, telephone number and other pieces of data that can be used to identify you online. You would be surprised to see how detailed a dossier that can be generated from an email, name, and phone number Throw in an address and they will know more about you than you could ever imagine. From there they will likely target you with different types of scams to see what you will bite at or they will try to get you to reveal more about yourself in order to get something they can use to commit some fraudulent activities.

Best case they will sell your email and you will be deluged with scam and junk emails. Dont bite unless you want to make up a dummy email address and play games with them.

 

This site is definitely not legitimate, it's taking other sales images, saying they are a broker, offering free shipment, etc.

This guy "Matthew" will help sell you the car..

Seems reasonable. No bun warmers or ventilated seats. No sport mode, but not sure the benefit with a manual. If I was in the area I would consider a trade.

 

Ha! Shows you what I know. I thought all GTS came with Sports Chrono Plus. Kind of weird that it doesn't to me.

 

It is an interesting build. It has limited slip, dynamic lights, nav, xm, and leather trimed seats. Alcantra delete which is fine with me.

 

Great deal unless needs tires, brakes and services which could add another $3k plus. I would also take a good look at paint depth and for evidence of overspray. I have seen and owned so many cars with clean Carfaxes that had body work and paint work.

With a cheap car like this, I would also be concerned that there was a repair within last couple of months that just has not hit Carfax yet.

There are no free lunch’s with these cars and there is a reason this car is priced that low. Perhaps a once in a life time deal, but doubtfully so in California.
