I just purchased a 2009 targa 4s with 86,000 miles. Unable to get a ppi or recent service records. No owners manual either. As a current Porsche owner I realize I broke all the suggestions to follow pre purchase. The car was located out of town. I took a gamble and bought it and then drove it home on a 10 hour journey. Car ran great. I’m unfamiliar with the car so it’s going in to get serviced. Any suggestions?
Can't believe it took me this long to find this thread. Loved going from top to bottom and seeing all the targas. I got my MY2009 Targa 4S last summer and absolutely love it. Top down most of the time but as others have pointed out, even with it closed the glass top makes the cabin feel nice and airy. I spend most of my time in the canyons near Santa Cruz and having the targa top makes all the difference.
pdemonet, Looks great. Do you have stock ride height or spacers?
I love those stock wheels. I have lobster forks for my winter set up, but I would rather the stock (Carrara 2s?) instead.
Thanks Greyghost. Good eye...stock ride height with spacers (7mm up front, 15mm rear). And yes, wheels are Carrera S 2s. One thing I will probably never do is take it in snow, but that must be fun. How does it handle it?
The one big mod I've made is Fister Sport Exhaust. What an amazing sound. it's loud but worth it.
I picked up a 2010 Targa 4S in October. I ordered the Fister mufflers they should be here next week. I was going to do sharkwerk at the same time, but was afraid it would be too loud, so I'm taking baby steps.

It handles great in the winter. It can't handle deep snow obviously, but the regular stuff is fine and the AWD makes it pretty steady. Not as fun as a RWD car, it takes much more effort to get it all sideways and nasty.
Looking to put snow tires on. Going to try to use an 18” wheel instead of the 19. I have been told to keep the front stock tire size 235 but change the back from 305 to 295. Any opinions here?

I run my Lobster 19" with 235 and 295. I guess if you have extra wintery conditions, the 18" would perform better and offer softer ride.
@Astraelraen you will love the sound. Let me know what you think after you have them installed.
On a different note...has anyone else seen this option on a 997 Targa? I would have never thought of adding Aluminum look vents but I'm glad the original buyer did.
