2009 turbo cab with 33k miles. I used Mike at Mossy motors and he was great to deal with. It was about $6300 for a 6yr/72k platinum policy with a $250 deductible. The peace of mind until 105k miles made it worthwhile and any major repair will probably be at least $6300.

Or under a current Fidelity plan. You can then get a prorata rebate from the original seller of the warranty. It's a bit like a new car you lose about 20% for driving it off the lot - but the remainder is refunded semi-fairly.

Example - I have a 7/70 warranty purchased in 2016 and they will refund 42% at this time. It does not matter if you're not the original purchaser as long as the warranty has been transferred to your name.

IMPORTANT! The fine print in the Fidelity contract requires that you transfer the warranty in the first 30 days after the sale. Make sure when buying a car with a warranty that the seller does all of the paperwork then and there.

Here is a form letter language - fill in blanks as needed. You also need to provide Page 1 of original contract. (per Fidelity contract language also)

For the sake of data:

2012 911 GTS with 20,450 miles. Bought a 6 year 60k Platinum warranty with $250 deductible for $3827, which was about $500 less than Michael J. at Mossy.

Mike prices warranties at 55% of retail, and I think he is still making 20% based on what I know. That's not unreasonable, as he probably gets paid 20% of the gross profit from the dealer, my guess. So he might make $100-$200 in his pocket.

That's a good deal. Please post contact info of warranty selling agent.

This is a good thread to keep in the public eye. I bought my warranty for a little less than Michael at Mossey, but the dealer who sold me the warranty would have required an inspection but I got past that because the car had just been serviced.

So here's a good question: What happens when you want to buy a Fidelity warranty on a car that is OUT of warranty. And maybe it has high miles? Has anyone bought one from Michael at Mossey under that circumstance? Doesn't Fidelity require an inspection?

I purchased an Autonation 4 year / 60k warranty with 0 deductible at any autonation dealer and 100 deductible anywhere else.

It was only $2200 and available for my recently purchased 2009 4S PDK because it had less than 10k miles (3,100 mi).

Covers the most everything and includes 1 set of wear out items (rotors/pads/wipers) during warranty.

Supposedly backed by the 2nd biggest insurance underwriter.

Hope I won't need to test it out!

My experience with buying an extended warranty is that once purchased, it is the best way to avoid any possible repairs. Same experience buying a snow blower as well.

But did you have to purchase the car from Auto Nation?

Well that's very reasonable then, much like the Carmax warranty. I don't think you can get the Carmax warranty unless you buy the car from them.n It is though from what I hear a great warranty that they stand behind and allow work to be preformed at Porsche dealers. I wonder how good the Auto Nation one is, and whether it compares to the Carmax and Fidelity ones when it come to claims?

I'm late to this thread but will post my Purchase experience / price anyway.

I own a 2012 997.2 Turbo S I purchased in April of 2018 with 31k miles.
I purchased my Fidelity Platinum Warranty (6 year / 60K miles with $250 Deductible) last November 2018.
My car had 34,638 miles on it at time of purchase (prices jump big at the 35K miles mark)
Purchase price was $5503.00.

I had a passenger seat electronics issue I had diagnosed and fixed at the cost of approx. $1600+
They fixed it with NO issues and I paid my $250.

NO issues with the car since the warranty purchase.

Are warranties with significantly lower miles available and if so are they significantly cheaper? I’m thinking 5k miles/yr would be sufficient for a lot of people.

I recently bought a Fidelity warranty. 7yrs 70k miles $2950. But my car only had 9000 miles. I got the numbers for fewer miles/years but even though less miles/years was cheaper, it wasn’t enough of a difference to justify the shorter timeframe. On the contrary, the cost per mile/year was cheaper the longer the warranty.
The biggest factor is the starting mileage.

Know of plenty of people who have been screwed though so this can't be repeated enough. Get an exclusionary policy rather than an inclusive. Big difference in how any claim will be handled. For those who don't know the difference, an exclusionary policy specifies what's NOT covered so everything not mentioned here will be covered. Any inclusive policy is just the opposite where everything that's covered is specified. Doesn't take too much imagination to see how this gives the insurer a lot more playroom in terms of denying coverage.

Good advice on purchasing only an exclusionary warranty.
Just purchased (week before last) a Fidelity Platinum 6yr / 60k warranty. '09 C2S with 25k miles. Warranty cost - $6013. Michael Jourdan, Mossy Motors - New Orleans.
