Yelled at to "slow down" in residential areas...

50 kmph +/- 7 kph is hard to notice by a regular person. That's around 10%, which even our speedometers can err I think.
Anyways, I too think it's the sound.
Safety first.. both for you and anyone out there by the roads.. While I would ensure I don't speed a lot (staying within "spirited" limits), I would not pay a lot of heed to people shouting/yelling these kinds of things at me.

Here we go again with all the fist shaking over minor or no offenses. Last month it was about the use of turn signals. 57 km/hr equals 35 mph so he was 5mph over the speed limit or maybe 3 mph over if you back out the built in padding of the speedometer.

This happened another time in what I'd call a lower class suburban area in a totally different province, while doing 40 km/h through a 50km/h zone (25/30 mph).
My wife suggests it's the flashy red sports car, haters, the loud (hacked) exhaust making the car sound faster than it is, etc.... I guess I can understand that.. But it's still frustrating.
Anyway had to vent... Anyone else experience this?
We have a handful of people in our neighborhood, who both complain about 'speeders', and are usually the ones sending notes to the Homeowners' Association along the lines of 'I'm usually not one to complain, buuut....', and then something about someone's car being parked in the driveway after 4:45 PM in violation of the CC&Rs blah blah blah... One even walks around the neighborhood with a notepad.
All of them are emigrees from California. We have a technical term for them.
We call them a**holes.
Apparently the same species exists in Nova Scotia.
What do you call yours?

Yep..
In my area, I got called a pu**y because I was driving my 997, and rage against the machine came on the radio. I'm supposedly not allowed to listen to it I guess, as I don't qualify as the correct demographic? People do have a lot of stupid and misplaced anger mixed together.

I always go very slow in my neighborhood. I have to look out for kids but mostly for the speeding minivans. I have been nearly hit several times by a mom on her cell phone while she was running a stop sign. I also get tailgated when I drive 20-25mph (posted at 25 mph).

Race Car
We just moved across the country last fall, so getting to know the area etc... Anyway, went out for a quick drive before sunset this evening and pulled back into the subdivision just before dusk.
Now I'm always very cautious not to drive at an unreasonable speed through our neighbourhood (a few hundred houses at most).. Lots of twisty, hilly roads, but it's a rural spot with lots of kids, walkers, dogs, etc.. And who wants build a reputation in their own town as "the douche with the red Porsche".
Anyway, 30 seconds before getting home some 40-something lady walking her dog bellowed as I'm driving past to "SLOW DOWN!!!!"... I glanced at the speedometer and see 57km/h through a 50km/h zone... (35/30 mph).
So yes I was speeding.. But what I'm frustrated at is someone in my very own neighbourhood who felt it necessary to shout loud enough for me to hear while my windows were up for doing 7km (5mph) over the limit.. I'm not disputing I was "speeding" but I deliberately took extra care not to do an unreasonable speed... And I *always* do 60-65 in my Nissan SUV through this area and no one bats an eye. I wonder if she yells at every car that passes by doing over the posted limit?

Zer026T, your wife is right, but you knew that already.
The speed limit in my neighborhood is 20 mph. I drive 18 (but in 1st gear and PSE on!). I've never sped in my neighborhood, ever. I tell my neighbors that if they see my car speeding through the neighborhood, don't yell, don't get mad....just call 9-1-1 because someone just stole my 911.

I got yelled at once for speeding. But I was parked on the street with the motor running.
These cars just look fast...even when they are not moving.
Oh, and Para82. "Queers"? Really? This is 2015 for fu@k's sake.
