I found my GTS here on Rennlist. Considering how specific my requirements were, (GTS, white, manual) I was surprised I found one in about two months. I haven't seen one like it since. I agree with the other posters - once you have found one, move quickly. I was on a plane to San Francisco from Detroit within two days to beat out two others buyers.

I found mine a few weeks ago on Cars.com but won it via eBay just his past Saturday. My requirements weren't amazingly specific since this is my first Porsche and I wanted something that was more DD. I noticed that setting up email alerts for new postings was helpful in identifying current market prices. Very quickly I got a sense for what was a good deal and what was way out of line.

I'm impressed by some of these stories. I found mine via Craigslist after browsing online casually for about a month. The seller lived literally 1.5 miles away from me. I suppose it doesn't hurt that I live in Orange County, CA - there's certainly more cars to choose from in this area compared to other parts of the country.

I found mine through the Porsche.com vehicle locator. I was looking nationwide for a Targa 4S and was close to a deal on one in Houston right before I had to fly to Singapore from SF. After getting to my hotel in Singapore 16 or 18 hours later, I did searched again and the Targa I bought had just been posted on the site at a local Bay Area dealer. Crazy.

Anyway, I think you're looking in the right places and can't recommend the classifieds at PCA.org highly enough. I've sold my last three cars there and they were all in great shape.

Good luck. Worth waiting for the right car, IMO.

I bought my 2005 997.1S from Jake Raby with a bad motor from pictures. Come March 2015 I'll have it with a 4.0 beast.

The best site I used was Car Guru. It's a meta-site where you can really fine tune your search criteria.

Found mine locally at RMC Motor Cars.

CarGurus and AutoTrader are great for aggregating listed cars, but sometimes dealers will sell you one that they haven't listed yet.

I bought mine off eBay after a PPI.
I looked around here for a few months.
Way too much $ for rough 997's.
I saw mine on a new eBay listing.
Flew out a couple of days later and drove her home.
I am very happy with the car and the deal.

Default How did you find your car?

Cars.com spot, by the wife. She was so sick of my year-long unicorn hunt, she joined in. When a car meeting my criteria popped up, she told me to buy it or I'd be living in my office...T

At my local dealership the sales people can tell you what's coming in long before the cars get posted on any site. The cars that make it onto the web site are the ones that have been declined by the wait-listers.

What sort of failures have you observed via PPI?

I searched Cars.com and Autotrader, found it on 1 of those. It was a private owner, car had been for sale a while.I actually didn't go see it sooner cause his pics were so bad. Finally went to see it in person and I was sold.
