If you want an unusual color, keep an eye on a Porsche dealership called Euroclassics in Virgina. They sell alot of Paint to Sample cars, which often come back to them on trade. Same goes for Porsche of San Diego, and Porsche of Naples. These are cars with colors like Mexico Blue and Signal Green that will set your car apart.

Youc can also add "Paint to Sample" to your search on cars.com and it will often flag these cars.

PCA.org for the C4S.

Do not wait to look at the ads in Panorama as they are typically published 60+ days after the ad appears online.

Be patient but prepare to act quickly!

Good luck in your search and if you need someone in the SF Bay Area to take a look at anything, just raise your hand...

Keep an eye on the car.
I did. The car kept coming up over and over again despite being sold over a month ago. I called the dealership a couple of times to verify that it was indeed gone. They shipped it to canada.

As more days go by that brand new F80 M3 starts sounding better and better. Not sure how much longer I'll hold out. Plus my wife loved the test drive we went on this past weekend.

Thanks! I'm all ready to go at a moment's notice. Sold some stock and my other car in June and have money all lined up.

Cars.com & Autotrader apps. I suggest a mental check list of must-haves & would-be-nice-to-haves. In my case: red over beige, CPO, 2011 or newer, 20K miles or less, $80K or less. Talked to bank manager & insurance agent to give 'em an idea of what I was looking for. Checked new listings every morning until color combo, price, year, model, etc. popped up. When it did, I pounced. At a minimum, enjoy the hunt; only thing more fun is that first drive in your new car!...T

Found the -06 on ebay. The -09 was a phone call from a dealership that knew what I was looking for. Bought the current car from a RL member I harassed until he got tired of it.

Found a Targa 4S at my dealer that had already been sold. Went by the dealer to test drive a couple of cabs and while I was there I asked about the "sold" Targa. What do you know? The Targa was there and available. Took it out for a test drive and bought it right after. The whole process took me 3 days.

Autotrader for the 87 out of Arlington, Virginia, Craigslist for the 95 here in Colorado and Carmax for the 2011 4S out of Duarte, California. The 2011 was a Lease with 11,550 miles and 6 months left on the Original Porsche Warranty.
Join PCA and your free copy of Panorama Mag. has good cars that are usually very well kept. The prices are a little high, but the condition of the cars are usually worth the extra $s. Remember, these are "Porsche People" and they know how to take care of these cars.

When looking for a car, I put together a list of "musts" and "likes" along with my budget for the car based on the matches to my list. Then I send this out to everyone I know in the business of selling cars. I've never had to wait long for a good match up. Of course, I don't deprive myself of the joy of looking on my own in the meantime!

There is a luxury mega dealer here in Scottsdale that includes separate Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin and Maserati dealerships. I browsed their website for their used car inventory. Lots of great low mileage trade ins at very good prices. My guess is their clientele doesn't hold on to their cars too long and are quick to trade in for a newer model or different brand. I still look at the site a few times a week to see if another great car comes up that I might be interested in (can you say turbo?).

If there is something like that in your area, try that. I found that not all of their inventory is on autotrader or cars.com.

Good luck and remember, the search is half the fun!
