I think you guys have the optional very rare "Metric Date" PCMs.

Certainly feels that way right now. I should play the lottery more often.

Default Same issue with an "04 AE

Granted, I know this is the 997 forum, but my 2004 Anniversary Edition has just developed the same problem. My 40th has Navigation, which I no longer use. I fired it up today and drove around the development hoping it would sync with a satellite and display the correct date. For the past month, when I do drive it, I noticed that the calendar now displays March, 2000. Like others have noted, I must have OCD but this annoys me, but not enough to warrant a trip to the dealer. Yet. I don't believe the soft reset (1-4-8) is an option on my earlier version of PCM.

Has anyone noticed that the correct date will occasionally show for a second or two when first turning PCM on (after Porsche splash screen ) and then revert to 2000? This is driving me crazy!

I found this in another thread. I took it to a dealer and explained what needed to be done. They had never seen this before and indicated I was the first person to request the fix.

After the tech struggled a bit with the PIWIS menu he was able to change the time to manual date set ( rather than satellite). He changed the date to the correct date but I am not able to change it if this is needed again. Be prepared to pay a diagnostic fee ( $150-200?) but I was charged only about $50 because I had other maintenance done ( oil and brake fluid change).

Easiest, no cost solution, to fix is to disconnect power to the Nav DVD in the frunk, turn key on and you should be able to set the data & time manually. Once set you can reconnect power at the Nav DVD and it should stick. I went a different route by disconnecting the fiber cable at the Nav DVD and using a fiber loop. You get the same results as disconnecting the power. If you disconnect the battery I suspect you will have to do this again.

Attached is a Porsche bulletin on this.

Disconnect power to DVD Navigation by pulling a fuse? Not sure what you’re describing with a fiber loop but I’d rather not pull the unit out of the dash if it involves that.

The unit is in the trunk. I was going to use the fiber optic bypass loop to do this but it involves removing several panels in the trunk area and access to the rear of the nav unit to disconnect power or install the loop does not seem so easy. Probably need to remove and install the nav to make access easier? I am not sure that disconnecting the power will enable you to change the date as the fiber loop may not be maintained with the power off?

Buy a most loop and loop the Nav unit out in the front and you can set the date manually. You dont have to remove anything, I unplug it with the nav in place.

Its wicked easy.
