Hey motosport3, I also have a 997 Launch Edition and just noticed the same problem with my car - date has reset itself on the PCM display to year 2000 (today it is showing 07/07/2000). Since both of our cars were manufactured around the same time, I wonder if this is a bug with the PCM software (date somehow aging out and resetting back to a default start date back in 2000)...

Keep me posted, and I'll do the same. Worst case, I'm due for an annual service in January and can ask my independent service shop.

Hi JTaylorGt, Good to know that I'm not the only one affected. I've driven it a bit and was hoping it would sync up via the GPS connection but its still displaying the year 2000. I'm thinking whatever source it used to reach out to that synced the date has been turned off.

On the 14 cayenne you set the date within the pcm. On my 08 911 it too, is in the pcm.

Just found this site.

I need help to set the date on my 2006 Porsche 997 manual coupe. The PCM allows a date format selection, but nowhere can I change the date from 01/07/2000!

I have read the PCM manual which says the date can be set for vehicles without NAV. My NAV seems to work and shows the car driving around on the display, but the date is only 13 years ago! No wonder I am always late!

I have also read the cars with NAV the date and time is set by GPS, but so far mine didn't.

Wrong date by almost 13 years and unable to adjust

Any help is appreciated

You should be able to click that with the right ****, and then change the numbers by turning the ****.

When I click/push the ****, it takes me to the date format, year month day or visa verser, and turning just moves up and down that list. I am not able to edit inside the format to change the date or even get to the date.

I'll look at mine today and take pictures. Maybe I'm not remembering the sequence correctly.

Just had this happen on my 06 C2S with Bose & Navi. In my case the date no longer appears on the Main screen and it shows the date of 01/09/2000 in the settings but unable to adjust. Time and time zone are correct and Navi works fine. Shows 10 Sat's locked in and follows me on the map. My coworker has the exact same issue in his 08 C2 Bose with Navi happening recently.

Interesting turn of events that we are experiencing with the date incorrect/missing on the PCM. In doing some digging it may be related to the GPS 2019 Week Rollover. Although its not supposed to hit until April 2019 the effects may be starting already.

We may not be able to fix this without a firmware update to PCM 2.x

Anyone else experiencing date/time sync issues?

Following up on this thread and this is clear.

1) It's an issue with MY 2005 - 2008 PCM (so far) that have NAV
2) Manual states that you can't manually set the date and gets synced from GPS

Based on those data points it seems as if something got shut off on the GPS end that our PCMs are hardwired to sync with and it won't be turned back on or there is no alternative?

I brought my Cayenne Diesel in for service and asked the SA about this and he hadn't heard about this but was going to ask his tech.

A 997 owner on another board stated similar issue with date missing/incorrect. He had the dealer do a reset and set the date and it would not take. Later in the day he set the date format different and it did come back on.

I have done the same without success. I think there is a 2015/2016 Nav/maps update I may try and see if it fixes it. He did have a newer map disk. I agree this seems to be a bug in the PCM firmware with the possibility it being related to the 2019 GPS Epoch week rollover event coming.
