Setting the date?
 

New to the list, converted BMW guy with my first Porsche :thumbsup:

I bought a 2009 911 Turbo and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change the date, and my OCD side is going off kilter...any help?

Also, are all 09' a 997.2 gen?

No. The turbo's got a pcm update in 2009 but the new engine, pdk option, etc. arrived with the 2010 model in North America.

Assumin g your car is equipped with PCM:

1. Press INFO button.
2. Press the OPTION button or touch the tab of the same name in the header.
3. Select "SET PCM SYSTEM"
> " Date & Time"
> " Date".
4. Set the date by selecting the corresponding numerical fields.


This was taken verbatim from the PCM Manual that should have come with your car.

Umm no. In No. Am. all 2009 were offered with new DFI engine, PDK option and PCM3 as well as new DRL cum turn signals with led's.

Is that your story and you're sticking with it?

I would suggest you take a look at some used car ads and compare 2009 turbo's to 2010 turbo's.

In the US, 997.1 turbo was for model years 2007, 2008 and 2009 - all 3 years have the GT1/Mezger engine. 997.2 turbo introduced in 2010 with DFI engine/PDK/etc. Always good to get the facts straight.

The question was "Are all '09 a 997.2?" he did not specified "turbo" if that was implied I am of course wrong.

Thank you for the help! And I was referring to the Turbo, unfortunately Porsche decided that 911's wouldn't come with 6 speeds in 2010.....at least that I could ever find! So starting with the PDK option in 2010 and the new motor, there isn't a 6 speed to be found...so pretty much all Gen 2's are going to be nPDK...

So Date isn't an option? I can set the time, or change the display (12/24 hrs) and the date format.

I am confused :(

Just curious - how is the PCM knowing the date useful?

I am just trying to set the date, it got screwed up somehow and I would like to have the date be correct, no clue why the PCM would be the place to set it, that's just what was suggested.

OK, I tried this on my car. It's a 2009 C2S with PCM 3.0 and Nav. I was only able to select the date format, not the date.

Here's what the PCM manual says:

Setting the date
(can only be set if the PCM is not equipped
with a navigation system)

the same name in the header.

> "Date & time"
> "Date".
4. Set the date by selecting the corresponding

Apparently the date is taken from the GPS time reference, which should always be correct on a car with a functioing Nav system.

Do your TT have Navigation?

So -

PCM with Nav - date cannot be manually set - gets info from Nav GPS.

PCM without Nav - date has to be set manually (no GPS to feed info to PCM) - follow instructions in post above.

This just happened on my 05 launch edition 997s. The date changed to 2000 and I read the same entry in the pcm manual. It actually says time and no mention of date would get synced with gps. I would think date would get synced as well but it hasn't. I used my nav nav twice since the date changed and the nav is functional.

Anyone have any ideas. Hooked up the durametric and didn't see anything around date.

It's pretty annoying to only be able to set the date format but not the date itself.

Anyone???
