I'll be replacing tires this spring. I had intended on replacing the TPMS as well, but after reading about the life expectancy of the batteries, I'm beginning to think they've recently been replaced and I don't need to.

Car is 2009 C2S with 51,000km (32,000 mi). Car is summer only and stored in winter (both by me & previous owners, that's just what you do in my part of the world).

Would the ORIGINAL TPMS still be working after 9 years? If so, I'll replace them. Else, I might take a gamble on swapping rubber without them.

YMMV
Thanks for the feedback!

I've had my 2009 since 2015 and currently have 65,000 miles on the odometer. I haven't changed the TPMS yet on my OEM set of wheels yet & they are still working fine. I doubt they were changed before 2015, when they were 6 years old, but I don't know for sure. I'm only searching for a new set of TPMS now because I just bought a new set of aftermarket wheels that I will be using in addition to the OEM set.

I’m up for some new TPMS for all my wheels and was curious if there’s any new better updates as to recommended vendors and TPMS types out there?

I just got TPMS24/7 sensors installed.. and I drove the car home(registered on the car within 2 miles). there is quite a shimmy on the steering wheel @ 100km/hr (60 miles/hr)... my guess is that they need to be balanced. anyone think the same or something different advice?

I have 4 sensors brand new, never used for sale. All 4 for $100. Fits 997.1 C2S. I thought mine had TPMS but it doesn't. PM me if interested.

“Shimmy”? I would interpret that to mean that the front end is wandering. First thing I would check is to make sure all of my lug bolts are on and torqued correctly. I would actually loosen them all, make sure the wheel is seated and re-torque them.

Shimmy isn’t a term I would use for an out of balance wheel. That’s more of a thumping or shake felt through the wheel. The vibration is usually evident in a fairly narrow speed range. Above and below that range, the vibration might be light or even go away. A seriously out of balance wheel will shake so violently that you’ll think the car is going to come apart.

shake is a better word than shimmy. It happens at highway speed, and I would be scared to go faster. It doesn't feel like the car is going to fly apart, but it isn't good! I will call the installers up and get them to balance the wheels.

Yeah, if it just started after you installed new tires, or you replaced TPMS and they dismounted the tires and re-mounted them, I’m thinking you probably have a wheel balance issue.

Just adding in my $0.02 to the thread. I just bought a set of these for $109.80 for all 4 shipped to me for my 2009 C4S after seeing a few other users post them in there. Installed them yesterday with no issues, took about 5-10 miles before they registered. I can try and report back in a year or two if they are still working. But for less than 1 OEM sensors, it's hard to beat.

5 day update, driven the car 2 times since then and they’ve disconnected twice and need to be reset. They re-registered quickly, so not a big issue. But not trouble free so far.

I’ve only driven the car twice since then. I spoke to the folks at TPMS 24/7 and they think that there is/was interference with my summer tires and those TPMS as they are about 5-10 feet away in the garage. I may not get many opportunities the next month or two to drive much here in Minnesota, but I’ll be sure to post updates on the sensors.
