Well, blazing928, I guess that ^^ will teach you to have a contrary opinion.

IMO, you make some good points.

all this from a guy who switched to all season tires for his commute. I'm sure he would be really concerned with the steering feel of a 991 while sipping his latte on the way to work.

No worries Mike from CA, we get pretty thick skinned down here! Its all in good fun.
Hey , I wonder if a Pana or Pig didn't have a Porsche badge on it, how the cars would be assessed?
Still not sure about either cars butt, but the fronts look great.

I stand by my if you like a 996/997 then you should like a 991, looks the same!
The 996 with Toyota build quality and IMS issues surely can't be so loved. They now have nearly depreciated to less than a good 928!! , where as the 993 is going up or at least holding. Or is it only the GT3s etc that are so respected?

I spend a lot of time at my local mechanic. Very old school, was the local PC service manager for years, goes back to very early 911 to around the early 993 era. He is also knows most 356s inside out and was there when the water cooled front engine cars came along. I often help him out pulling 911 motors out and i even took the top off a 2.7 last year that was pulling the head studs out.
So I tend to prefer the early cars for the simpler lines, reminds me of my old Alfa 105 coupes. But I am quite amazed at the agricultural build quality of the early cars. Porsche was like Colin chapman, to go fast add less weight. My first Porsche experiences were with my 928S4. Its a million miles better built than comparable 911s, look at a 78 928s alloy suspension....mmmm
I would certainly addd a 356 or pre 74 911 to the garage from a design point and enjoy the simple driving pleasure.

I have a theory that if you want a fast car, then get proper one, a luxury car; then it needs to be that, a SUV then get a proper big one, so personally i would have got a Land Rover D4 vs a cayenne as its just a lot bigger or even a Volvo wagon like a XC70, but then the wife came along......
Still they are a great car and i will enjoy it very much.

The nature of my commute makes it really quite mad to replace racing tyres every 8000 miles when there's an alternative that lasts thrice longer.

Sadly, the local municipalities prefer to set up speed traps at every corner rather than focus the attention of their police forces upon the dreadlocked miscreants with trousers half down their ***** who pose a much greater threat to the safety of the citizenry.
It's different here than New York, where there is conveniently a river to separate the humans from knuckle-walking crotch-grabbers and their gum-popping molls.

If I sippped latte whilst driving I would own a PDK like the rest of the latte-sipping constituency. (FYI, latte is pure milk. Caffe latte is coffee with milk. I may just have saved your life, as such lack of rudimentary knowledge of Italian is no doubt a whackable offence where you live.)

After test driving a 991S and a 2012 4GTS I traded in my 2009 C4S for the GTS. Both cars are incredible but the interior design of the 4GTS was what finialized my decision. (very subjective) I will still wave to the 991 owners, I hope they wave back.

Yes it makes good sense that descendants of prisoners would have a somewhat broader sense of humour than descendants of puritans. Americans have a difficult time accepting humour unless it involves flatulence or a cream pie.

If they don't, it's not because the 991 requires the driver's focussed attention. It's probably merely that they don't recognise your car is a Porsche because it doesn't have it written all across it's ****.

I think you're on to something. That bit about flatulence may just explain why I find what comes out of you so amusing......

Unlike scotch whiskey, twelve year-old schoolyard banter is not something you're likely to be applauded for sharing.

You brilliantly pointed out that Americans are amused by flatulence. I'm American, and I find you amusing. You made the point, I'm simply agreeing with it. A first, but when you're right, you're right.

Have a nice 12 year old scotch and applaud yourself......

Do you even know where the key goes on your vehicle or do you need to call the dealership?

LOL! This is S. Florida. There's always someone nearby from New Jersey who can hot-wire it for me.
