Here's an example where they did pay for IMS repair

I know they didn't pay for a factory remanufactured engine, they agreed to pay for an used one and the owner had to pay for 2K difference, still better than 25K...

Seems to me that no matter what warranty you have it's up to the claim adjuster.

From the same thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/8252672-post152.html
"Fidelity Warranty SUCKS - they were really not very cooperative with me or the dealer at all. Very difficult to get a hold of someone that really knows what's going on, and very very difficult with the dealer Service Advisor."

They did however cover an IMS issue.

For that to be valid it probably needs to be specified as opposed to assumed. If the lubricated part in question can't be accessed but is still lubricated, how is it not internally lubricated? That's what I don't understand.

I don't think you can call it non-lubricated... it's got oil/grease in it when it comes from the factory. I also don't think you can call it "externally lubricated" because it is not possible to lubricate without pulling the engine part.
Exactly. So since it's lubricating itself from within where it can't be reached without major disassembly, the only remaining lubrication definition is?

"non serviceable"- I don't think that an insurance writer is going to play the semantics game. Or maybe they will. Who knows. I think the only way to be sure that one will be covered is to get it in writing beforehand that they will cover and IMS failure.

Got my car back yesterday from Rusnak Porsche.
A new Crate motor was put in.
Just want to say that Brian Lewey and Scott Rosenblum are without a doubt THE best people to deal with at Porsche .
As long as I have a Porsche and as long as they are there, I will only deal with them.

Lets hope I don't have to see them for a while .... : )

Good deal.

Glad to hear that you're back on the road and happy with the service.

Can you let us know what type of IMS bearing was in your blown engine?
Was it the revised larger single row IMS bearing "3605"?
If you're not sure and know the engine number, then I can determine the bearing type.

Congrats. Do a proper engine break-in. And then change the oil early, at about the 1,000 miles mark.

My 2006 C4S blew up on Monday. It is at the dealer now and my CPO is still effective. How did you come out on your situation?
