Default Well...... It finally happened.

My 2005 997S fell victim to the dreaded IMS failure last night.

It happened on my way home from work.

Below are pix on the flat bed.

Sorry. Not a pretty sight. Any warranty (CPO)?

Any tell-tale signs prior to the event?

Hope you are back on the road again soon.

Thank God for my CPO.
It happened real fast . Stopped at red light. Light turns green, shift into 1st and grind grind grid, (sounded like a bunch of marbles in a metal can).

So should I expect a new engine from Porsche with this issue ??

I'd say yes because you have the CPO.

Wow. Ouch. Let us know how your warrenty works out. Say - what is the build date on your car (check drivers door plate, upper right hand corner should have a month/year). Thanks.

well, it is a $20K question. call them and let us know how it all will work out.

ask service manager how many cars with this issue he saw, i just WONDER if answer will be again - yours was a first one.

One question that will inevitably come up is how many miles you had on your 911S. My guess is that you have less than average miles on your car for an 05.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Thank goodness for the CPO. You must have been close on the CPO expiring or the dealer CPO'ed it out of original warranty giving you 2 years of life when you bought it. 2005+4+2=2011.
