That was me. What I didn't realize and what wasn't in their earlier marketing material was the demo of the throttle plate movement speed being restricted by the Porsche software to only open at a certain rate independent of how quickly the pedal was depressed.

I still don't like or want the augmented input but what I'm after is the feel.of a cable actuated throttle and this got me closer if not there.
I should pull the intake off and test in different modes to see what the plate is actually doing relative to the pedal to see if sport mode and a 4 or 5 setting or race mode and a 1 setting is a better match for my desired behavior.

Did about a 1,000 mile road trip over the holidays and thanks to some good friends had new plugs and coils installed, replaced the original wheel lug nuts with titanium ones, cleaned out behind the rear wheel liners, replaced an interior window trim piece that was scratched, and finally replaced the stock center muffler with a bypass X-Pipe from Fabspeed. Car ran fantastic and I am really pleased with the new X-pipe, which provides just a bit more feedback/sound that I was looking for. Also, very impressed with the customer service from Fabspeed and the quality of the product.

Sat in it for about 2 minutes in the garage and regretted not taking it out this weekend.

Default De-Smoked Rear Taillights

Removed the smoke paint the previous owner did. Took about an hour per light.

Took it on the Autobahn to the Porsche museum, for a 1-day 1150 km roadtrip on Dec 28th. Left the house at 5:30 and said the kids goodnight at 20:00 😁

Amazing! I bet it was great fun.

I did that a few years back in my 997.2. Solo day trip, 9.5 hours of driving return trip. Not the Porsche Museum as a destination but was a fun trip.

Guess you caught the last of 75 years exhibit? Photos?

Yeah, it was something similar indeed. Solo day trip, to see the 75 years exhibit indeed. Still sorting out the photos, but I put a few on my Instagram already if you're interested: https://www.instagram.com/997midnightblues/

Just wanted to chime in on your Sport Chrono throttle mapping comment...
The graph is actually almost exactly linear, with a 1/1 ration of pedal movement to engine output demand changing close to a 2/1 ratio in Sport mode.
Half accelerator pedal deflection = 90% torque output at a given RPM

While I never drive my 6MT 997 GTS in sport mode in traffic or urban settings, I use it exclusively when driving with intention in canyons and mountains.

Rev matching becomes a much more nuanced and gentle stab of the throttle with the edge of my foot rather than a pivot and mash affair. I do find it counterintuitive and twitchy when starting from a dead stop but it is a real improvement when underway and rev matching downshifts pre-apex.

I like it, but it is apparently not for everyone!

It's actually not, at least the way I look at it - maybe I'm not describing the part of it that I don't like, so let me try it this way. See how in Sport mode once the graph hits 60% of the pedal travel, there really isn't any more opening it can provide, so it's flat across the top. There's also very little movement in that first 10%, so that means in sport mode, once you pass 10% of the throttle pedal travel, over the next 50% of pedal travel you get all the available throttle because once the graph hits 60% of the throttle pedal, the car is essentially at full throttle. It's the fine adjustment with the right foot that I don't like in sport mode where the car wants to lurch forward with even just a little bit of additional pedal. At traction threshold in a corner, you need to be able to smoothly regulate the throttle and I'm not able to do that when in Sport mode.

The sprint booster does a similar thing - look at the graphs for sport mode and race mode.

See how the normal yellow mode is essentially a straight line - this is as close to a cable actuated throttle as you can get.

Then in sport mode see how the top of the graph is flat from about 80% on - that means the throttle signal is augmented enough so that 80% of pedal travel = 100% throttle. And in race mode, it's even more augmented - 60% pedal travel = 100% throttle.

I want the yellow graph, but I want the electronic signals to be processed faster, not larger. With sprint booster having 9 settings in each mode, I feel like I'm now able to do that. Race mode on a setting of one does little augmentation but moves the throttle plate much faster than Porsche lets it move with their programming.

Does that make sense?

We had a very light dusting of snow this morning in OKC. Drove mine to work since it is a daily driver. I took my time and it performed well. Just a few icy patches before I got to the interstate. All gone by lunch time.

Replly to @Petza914 "Does that make sense?" post above re: Porsche OEM Sport Chrono throttle mapping
(I screwed up the quote function...)

It absolutely does.
You just took me to school on throttle/torque curve geometry. Thank you.
I have not been a heel and toe down-shifter prior to owning my 997 GTS- so much of my admiration of the 997 Sport Chrono throttle re-map is based on...well, really nothing.

What you are seeking is a linear relationship throughout the entire pedal travel. And the Porsche e-throttles, for whatever reason, do not provide that.

Unless a cable throttle is routed through a cam, it would be exactly what you are seeking to replicate.

Initially, I totally disliked the Sport Chrono throttle mapping, but I drive barefoot (Hawaii resident for 29 yeatrs) for hours at a time on some awesome roads. I "feel" the pedals like our hands feel the wheel.

I often encounter the nannies (PSM, ABS, Rev-limiter) when driving near my limit and have experimented with different combinations of switchology to sample the Sport Mode relaxed PSM envelopes avaiable, i.e.,turning PSM off entirely and the like. (Not a fan of unwanted individual wheel braking or fuel topping when I am rotating the car using brakes in tight corners. I run hard in SPORT mode, PASM/DSC in firm, PSM off and PSE loud.)

I found that the smaller throttle travel input required in Sport mode enabled a much more accurate/nimble throttle stab while busy late braking. I also find that feathering the throttle mid corner when at adhesion limits requires smaller inputs using finer ankle muscles. Those two functions are the only advantages I appreciate.

You are clearly seeking a solution that addresses far more than the features I am enjoying.
Thanks for the explanation.
