Installed @Hatzenbach ‘s auto headlight adapter. Easy install and works perfectly on both my 997.1 and my wife’s 987.2 BS. Also FINALLY fixed my window drop issue. My window would drop when the door was opened, but not go back up. New used window motor resolved it.

So many cars of the time period had great sounding doors. The "click" of the opening and the "non-thunk" of the closing. You could actually hear the mechanism work.

I had the same fear, but I did end up installing it through that vent like he shows in the instructions. Popped it up in the center of the dash and worked my way towards the A-pillar. I didn't take it all the way off because I was worried I'd never get all the clips to snap back in along the windshield, if I didn't break them in the first place. But all the way to the left, right next to the A-pillar there is a little hole you can drop the end of the sensor cable into and feed it down to where the light module will hide. Can get a little tricky working in that corner to get it to feed in the right directions, but I eventually got it. It help to pull the door seal back so I could actually see it.
