I sent some random parts off to paint; handles, belt/harness pass through on the buckets, and frunk/door sill. I’ll need to decide whether I’ll want to keep the leather frunk/door sill or the painted ones.

not sure about the interior door pulls either. They’re current carbon but I think switching to white will look better. Should have it all back within a couple of weeks.

A spirited drive that almost ended up badly... white smoke and plastic burning smell coming out of the rear left... Once it was gone... I went fast again! Gotta love tiny countryside roads in Finland... no cops!

This is the link
Amazon Amazon
. You will need to contact them with your vehicle and what options you want for the cover. It does take a few hours of trial and error to get the thing on correctly !!!!!!!!!!

Default Started on my suspension refresh/upgrade

Bilsteins!

Rear shock. Done. 100700 miles. Rest up, you did your duty

The Bump stops here!

Front shock, passenger side

Clears!

This mounting strut and bearing is done for. Falling apart and the rubber has disintegrated

Another view of the shock stop

Strut bearing

Like this thing is really decaying before my eyes

Progress

Got all control arms in. Will torque tomorrow
This was the cheapest 2009 997.2 carrera s mt available in the nation and I bought it. (I know, it sounds like the start of a cliche youtube video designed to lure you in and not deliver) And im here to tell you, believe it when they say a cheap porsche is an expensive porsche! I've already spent 10k in parts and tools and fluids to get it up to snuff, and still have more to go! Taxes came back so I ordered the control arm kits from fcpeuro, plus the bilstein coilover kit, plus the Zimmerman brake kit, plus miscellaneous odds and ends and trim pieces from various parts suppliers. I've changed my spark plugs and coil packs, changed the oil to driven di40, replaced the broken cupholders, and other small cosmetic stuff. Today I tackled the big ones. Suspension refresh and shock upgrades. I followed the fcpeuro YouTube tutorial for the most part, along with a few pelican parts articles. And the more I took apart, the more I found wrong. Wrong or missing screws, dented supports, wrongly installed air ducts! I had one 911, and one cayman radiator airduct on it! Lots of corrosion on the breaks. Missing set screws. Whoever owned this car before, while they may have initially took care of it, eventually they said to heck with it and just started driving it like they jacked it and didn't care if they got caught! I still have to get new tires and a drivers side airbag, and I'm going to ger the dsc to go along with the bilsteins. The car has pasm and chrono package and sport seats, so that's a plus. Hopefully once it's done and aligned, the car will feel more planted and surer and not so shaky and wobbly. My fathers day gift? I hope everyone leaves me alone and let's me work on my car so I can get some real progress done! Happy Father's day to you all!

Just keep in mind that when performing whatever replacement or service you now have parts or fluids with zero miles. A ‘well maintained’ vehicle with lower miles or whatever may not need any immediate repairs but those parts still have miles and age.

I guess what I’m saying is your true cost with bringing maintenance up to date isn’t really the full $$$ as compared to another car. The ‘other’ car may need the exact same stuff done In a year or two or three.

RTL I love the look but you need a small wing to balance out the front it can cause high speed imbalance if you don’t
