As Bob said - lever up or down with key off and light stays on. If your dealer couldn't figure that one out, time to look for someone smarter.

Well, I got my car back this afternoon and it drives like new. The mystery problem remains...a mystery. The service peeps could not figure out what had happened. I just hope it won't happen again. So there you are folks. It's like nothing happened. WTH???????

In my 2008 TT, I stalled the engine making a sharp left turn from a stop into a parking lot from the end of a boulevard divider. Trying to get rolling in first gear with the steering cranked all the way left. The engine died, I turned beet red, although I have stalled other times, but there I was stuck in oncoming traffic. I turned the key several times, foot hard on the clutch, and no response. No click, no turnover, nothing.
Panicking, I pulled the key out, jammed it back in and cranked with success, then slunk with my head down into the driveway without getting honked at. No difference otherwise in what I did between the first few attempts, and the last successful one, and it has never happened since.
I have stalled at other times from being in 3rd, not first, and for other reasons, and simply turned key with success. Also learned valuable lesson about holding a coffee mug while stalling the car. You can't turn the key, change gears, and depress two separate pedals at the same time with only 3 limbs free.

Well guys, I really don't know what to make of it. I was getting ready to leave for work this morning at 6:10, and the same exact thing happened. Since I drove the car home on Monday afternoon from the dealer, I'm thinking it may be the car not recognizing the key?????? But then if this is the case, wouldn't the car not unlock at all if it wasn't the correct key?
