THAT would be foolish I agree. But since the actual number is nearly an inch and three quarters (1.73) $8K makes sense I'm sure you'll concede.

You are correct, my friend, but as Ucube stated in post 29, it appeared that the OP was focused on the C4S on looks alone. I believe he admitted, in fact, that he had no interest in the AWD. Based on his priorities, I felt like he would be paying the upcharge simply for the widebody.

The Aerokit wing on a slightly narrower C2S looks better than the Aerokit wing on a slightly wider C4S. Some food for thought on somebody considering the Aerokit. Otherwise, a non-aero 997 looks better with the wider C4S hips, IMO.

I bought the targa just for the wider body. I enjoy the sun and prefer the lines of the coupe. Targas are all 4's to the fit was perfect. Nothing like the hips on the 4.

Just like someone mentioned in earlier post, the rear-angle alone on wide-body 997 is worth the price. I don't track my cars but fatter ties, more aggressive stance, and sexier curves are what I want, not so much the AWD. But on the other hand, I could save about $8k w a narrow-body 997 since 997 body is already wider than that of 996. Cheers.
Here is mine that is for sale. I think you have seen it.

Perhaps a better comparison,--you really see very little difference.

I can definitely see a difference. My problem is I think they both look good!

That's because black is slimming!

agree with edgy01. to get a 4 purely for looks (hardly noticeable at that) and then to forgo classic p-rwd engineering is beyond me. why porsche at all? why not just a 4-matic mb? or how 'bout a range? or better yet, buy an S and put a 4S badge on the back-- that should give the virtual width of at least 1/2".

Is classic p-rwd engineering that way because RWD is better, or is it because when the classic p-rwd was engineered there wasn't adequate AWD sports car technology invented yet?

I'd drive a C4S any day of the year for the rest of my life before I considered a "4-matic mb" which for the record isn't even similar to a C4S at all.

There is more to the width of a C4S then what is in the imagination and virtual reality. I have no problem telling the difference between a C2 & C4 for even a momentary glance as one passes by.

Suffice it to say, Porsche provides variety appealing to all wants! May all those with 4 wheel drive enjoy them as much as us poorer cousins with only the 2. ;-)

i completely agree and i have nothing against the 4. quite the contrary (although i myself prefer the lighter weight and dynamics of rwd). to clarify, awd is great if those are the particular dynamics you're going after (keep in mind it wasn't until the 993 that p sufficiently tweaked the dynamics of awd in the 911). but to choose a 4S purely for aesthetic reasons, imho, is poseur-ish. i'll probably offend more people here, but i think it's tantamount to buying a 12mpg luxury suv in socal or fl.

Yea,--personally, I don't get it in SoCal. I think it's either "get the most expensive" or "I need the training wheels because the 911 has a reputation of being squirrly."
