Default Surprise while driving...front trunk opened automatically

I was on a weekend ride after detailing the car the day before and the next thing a notice was a warning stating that my front trunk was open while traveling 70-80 mph. I did not touch anything that would trigger this. I hope I'm not getting an electrical gremlin or something! Has anyone else had this happen? Hopefully it is not a malfunction of my Smartop module. It only happen once...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The only time the trunk pops open for me is when I am tying my shoes in the morning and my keys are in my front pocket, that and I got a coupe.

Wow thats scary I'd check with the makers of the Smartop module. Hopefully its easy to reproduce and track down.

Is your 997 a 2005 model? I understand Porsche did some adjustments between 05 and 06. The SmartTop module shouldn't be a factor.

Did you have the other key in your pocket?
I noticed that the remote key buttons are very sensitive. sometimes I am going into my wife's car which is parked next to mine and the P-Car key is in my pocket. the P-car unlocks!

Mine is supersensitive too when I have no intention of opening the trunk. If I want to open it, however, it seems I have to hold the trunk release forever.

At least once a day, I unintentionally open my trunk. Yesterday, I removed the plastic button that opens the trunk and covered the space with a piece of black tape. I have a spare tire in my trunk so there is no extra space in there anyway. For my 993, the dealer was able to replace my integrated key/remote with a seperate key and fob system. The remote fob worked great with zero openings by mistake. Does anyone know if a separate key and fob will work in the 997?

Thanks for everyones input. No I did not have a spare key in the pocket and the key was in the ignition since I was actually driving. I have read threads about the trunk opening while the key is in the pocket and that was one of the reason I got the Smartop (there is a delay so that if you actually touched the key fob the trunk does not pop open).

The latch may simply require a minor adjustment - I recall something like this early on with my 05 997S.
