I installed the Function First shifter cable ends yesterday and am very, very glad I did. I inevitably would have joined the stranded-because-my-cable-popped-off-the-tranny club. Both of my factory snap cups were cracked and the factory units had an incredible amount of play in them. One of them came off without any force whatsoever. Car is an 06 C2S with only 50k miles. Beyond avoiding a ride on a flatbed the shifting is also noticeably crisper (not a lick of additional NVH, either). Install was cake and only took about 30 mins (didnt even finish my beer).
Between the Numeric shifter and these cable ends this car is one of the best shifting manuals Ive ever driven. I wouldnt have said that a year ago when it was stone stock when I bought it. I highly, highly recommend them both.
I suggested to a few friends that we might want to replace their cables based upon this thread. Just wondering, based upon a question from one of those friends, would you advise just the ends, or the entire cable?

I still have stock cables and don’t plan on changing them. It shifts great as is. Not heard of them going out but the ends popping off of the tranny isn’t uncommon.
