Default AWD to RWD on .1 Turbo

Can I pull both front axles and then re-install outer CV stubs to essentially convert to "RWD" without any issues? Will leave front diff and intermediate shaft in place. FWIW, this is not a track car.

Check this thread. Answers your questions. The easiest way is to remove the center driveshaft and leave everything else attached.

I keep breaking front axles so that's not an option. The front axles shafts have to go.

Sigh. The naturally aspirated 997.1 and the 997.1 turbo dont have the same awd system. The 997 NA cars have the simpler system while the turbo has the electronically controlled diff and as far as i know no one has managed tk make it rwd.

Yes they have. 9ff, a German company sells a control unit that connects to front diff wiring loom instead of the diff, imitating it's operation. So everything mechanical can be removed.
See this thread, post #117.

Very cool! I wasn't aware someone had figured it out for the 997 turbos. I wonder if it works on the 997.2 4s as well.

BTW, you can link directly to a specific post by clicking th post number and copying the link. E.g link to post 117

Indeed, would love to know if this works on 997.2 C4/C4S! I am sure the box isn't anything special, would be amazing to remove some of the weight and make my C4 into GTS spec.
