Hello again, my friends
It has been a number of years since I've been on Rennlist (and even longer since I was active), but I hope to spend some more time here in the future. While I have been enjoying playing around with other cars and trucks, having another 911 remains in the back of my mind and the only question is really when (and what).
Part of me wants to order another new, custom car - but the good sense part of me reminds me that there's a 500+ hp beast sitting in my driveway now with only 4k miles in 3 years, and it would be throwing even more money away if it were another new 911. Another part of me wants to trade for another 997 in an "even swap" of sorts, even if I only keep it a couple of years and only drive it every once in a while.
In the meanwhile, I hope you have all been doing well and I'm glad to see some familiar faces on the forum.

The new cars really aren't anything like the 997. I have no interest in anything newer than a 991 Speedster, but only that one for the looks, otherwise, nothing newer than a 997. 2. I don't want to drive a computer down the road, I want to drive a car with switches, gauges, a manual shifter, and as few screens and sensors as possible. I prefer my 40 year old 914 and 928 to the new stuff. The 997 is the perfect balance of old school look and feel with more modern convenience and comfort features.

I have yet to go drive a 991 and am leaning more towards the more "mechanical" 997. I'm sure each previous generation of owners said the same about the new generation(s). I will say, however, the availability of some of the green colors on the new cars really make it hard. I have wanted a green 911 since the 997 GT3s came out, and the new greens are even better than the old ones.
I'm not crazy enough to have a 997 re-sprayed in a new PTS color, however,

I still stop by once in a while. Need to hang out more often. Still love the 997.1 and working on it all the time, Just did rotors and changed center caps. Getting ready for a track weekend at Road Atlanta at end of the month. Got my track wheels straightened and still have a bit more prep to do.
I always admired your GTS and the .2 GTS in general. But I'm sticking with my car. Over 10 years and almost 100k miles since I've owned it. Still gets tons of compliments!

Thanks. Nice to see familiar faces (I recognized @Edgy01 and @ADias right off the bat).

Welcome back. I am a hardcore Mustang guy as well, but I really only like the S197's, which still have the live rear axle unlike your current car. The handling of the 911, as you know, is a large part of its allure. I suspect the IRS Mustang is pretty darn good too, but with a heavy front end bias. Anyway, if you can, get the 997 and keep the Mustang too (I sure miss mine!)
