Looking at the added reports, copper and lead is bearing wear. That's not good and you guys will need to shorten your oil change intervals. I don't like to see any wear metals in double digits in modern engines. In an 80s 928 it's or a 70s Camaro it's a little more normal, but not in these motors.
Mobil 1 shears down quickly to a pretty stable level as I understand. There is plenty of additive left as the sample says. Your car has gotten beyond 134000 miles well enough. I'd go to 6-7k miles next time and see. I used MSO2 my last change and added about 1.4 containers of MSO2 plus 8 qts M1 to get me to 1 bar below top of measurement range on my 997.1.
This is nice summary. What it tells me is that all of these oils perform basically the same. And if another set of samples and results are developed, the numbers will be somewhat different but still will tell us that basically they perform the same.
Keep in mind all the distances are in KM - not Miles like the paperwork says! The first sample was taken on my first oil change after buying the car. I suspect it was Mobil as the paperwork I got with the car indicated it was dealer serviced recently. But I'm not 100% sure it is 'unknown' for all intents. I put in Mobil 1 0W40 at that change, and that is what this report is for.
I'll get another Mobil 1 0W40 sample when the car comes out of winter storage in a few weeks
Are these numbers in post #22 telling us the numbers are good, bad, indifferent? Could one conclude that Mobil 1 is not bad after all? And would one derive that cwheeler's engine has wear problems?
I've been reading lots of posts on oil analysis. Other than getting a baseline and following your own engine with subsequent analyses, I am having trouble comparing different cars with different oil to draw any conclusions. I am not an engineer and don't even play one on TV!
