Them selling the part doesn't necessarily mean they have to start training anyone. Plus it really is a relatively easy part to change for any technician that has some transmission basics. I removed the sensor on the car I'm working on with the transmission in the car.

Don't you need to open the case for this?
which car model is it?

Its possible on Panamera, I just can’t see how you could open the case with the transmission still bolted to the engine on 997/991 and cayman/boxster. Would love to hear more about that please

yeah, that is completely different car/layout.
In theory I can see how it can be done on Cayman though not sure that it is easier than taking whole trans out, but I do not see how to do it on 911
What about those of us who are willing to perform the work or leverage a local tech? Have you tested the repaired sensor in a car? If it works, share the love. I don’t care about Porsche, or it’s techs or dealership. I want to get my car back on the road. Thank you so so much!!

Was not a problem at all, you just tilt the engine/transmission assembly down (transmission end) and pull off the end housing. It does help I'm a 30year plus tech but honestly it wasn't that bad. Although you do need a special socket for one the nuts on one of the shafts that I happened to have from something else that fit perfect.

But you still need to press case out and them press it in.

How about a picture and specs of/about the "special socket"?
Thanks

Ya no problem, it's actually a home made one as you will see when I post it. I'll get the pic up as soon as I can.
Hi,
how did it go with testing? please share really appreciate it
thanks
Rupert
We are still working on it, sensor errors have been sorted out but seems that we have a different issue with an oil pressure, someone has fiddled with the transmission before we got it to work on a sensor…. I’ll let you know once the car is back on the road.
if anyone would like to test, please PM me and we can try to work something out.
