Default Washed car on slanted driveway, water in footwell!

Hello all,

I recently made my dream car purchase on Monday, a 2010 c4s. I traded my 99 m3 cab and boy do I now fully understand why Porsche’s are the most sought after iconic sports car. It is not a drive, it is like going on a rollercoaster ride!

its been 3 days of owning it and I washed it the other day. After washing as I opened the driver side door, bubbles and water were on the inside of the door sill that has the c4s plate and all along the panel up to the door handle area. It wasn’t until I went back in at night did I realize the front driver footwell to the rear seat footwell was wet. Not flooded, but moist. From right below the fuse box to the bottom of the rear seat footwell.

i pulled as much water out with some micro fibers and am letting it air out now. Passenger side had water in the door sill but none on the carpet.

I’m hoping none of the electrics are shot, both frunk and engine button still work, but I know the immobilizer and other electronics are below that seat!

could this be because of the angle of the car when I washed? Or water coming down from windshield down into footwell? Right under the fuse box was very wet, then through to the rear seat.

it is only wet about halfway across, see crappy diagram below.

thank you in advance!

Check your drain ports

Could be your windshield seal. See my posts here:

Number 2 is the one I had a leak from it being clogged. You have to remove the fender liner and its up near the top.

Running some weed whacker line from the top and then from the bottom fixed for me.

Are you sure the windows are going all the way up? They can be finicky.

If the water ended up where the blue lines are, that points to a clogged cowl drain to me. All that water that runs down the windshield just runs out holes at the front of the cowl, that is unless those holes have leaves and pine needles blocking them.

So I checked the 3 under the cowl. They were full of dirt and crap.

I couldn’t pull it back out but pushed the dirt down the hole. Those who have gotten their fingers in there.... felt a bit... weird.

hopefully this should solve the issue! Thank you all!

if this doesn't fix your problem, check to see if the lower carpeted portion of your door panel is wet when you wash the car or it rains. if so, your problem could be the inner door panel seals. if it turns out it is the inner door panel seal, you cannot just buy a replacement seal, it is part of the inner metal panel. scrape th old gasket material off and replace using RTV gasket maker or similar product. worked for me.

just finished washing the car again on my slanted driveway. Was careful to check for water coming in, I had also cleared out the drain holes 3,4,5 above and thought I was good... I was not.

there was a little water in the drivers side footwell right below the fuse box. Not nearly as much as last time, but carpet was wet.

im thinking it’s drain 2. Anyone know how to get to the backside of that one? Through the wheel well?

2009 C2S 153K miles

I blew out the lines using this: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...-tool-diy.html you don't have to remove the liner for this approach.

If you don't have an air compressor and the tube, you can push weed wacker line from the top. The problem is it won't make the very last 90degree turn into the wheel well at that grommet above... but it still may work and save you pulling the liner. Of course if you have some tube, you can probably just blow through it.

Peace
