Default Injectors

It sounds like fuel injector issues can contribute to this problem. I read the LN TSB on injectors. I’m not a mechanic but I try to do as much as I can on my own.

Any good preventive practices for DFI 9A1’s with regard to the fuel injectors? Should they be tested? Replaced like a wear item? I’d love to hear from the experts on this...

It seems like this is beyond what would ever be covered in a PPI...

I think running a fuel injector cleaner for the full tank prior to an oil change is good preventive maintenance.

So - which ones are any good vs which ones are snake oil designed to make you feel better? Lotsa snake oil out there that’s not worth $1

Charles? Jake? Anyone with professional experience in this area?

Driven Carb/Injector Defender, Seafoam, and LM Jectron. Those are the ones we use.

Thanks, Charles. I didn’t know Driven made one. I’ve become a real fan of their products and trust their engine oil. That’s probably my top pick from experience with other Driven products.

I just spent 5+ hours reading this entire 62 page thread. Why?

Because I now own this infamous car!

Didn’t know Bronz sold it. Well just follow the maintenance on the new engine.

You probably now own one of the most infamous cars in recent rennlist history! When it is all broken in you should post a little side by side pull with another rennlist member who has a 997.2 S

That would be fun to watch!

Congrats! Jake's designated builder will be constructing a 3.8 stage II for my 987 CS in the coming months. Looking forward to your impressions.

Crazy..
Can you please write down the conclusions in the summary (regarding 9A1)?
Of course I will (sometime) find time and read everything. Time is a valuable resource.
Thanks

Since this thread was revived after 3+ years I’ll provide a quick update on Bronz’s bore scored 09 4s. I’ve put 34k miles (odometer now at 114k) on the FSI 4.0 Stage II engine since acquiring it and it’s just a beast. Only mechanical issue was a year ago when one of the fuel injectors failed which led to misfires and the dreaded CEL. Replaced all 6 injectors and the car’s performance and mileage improved significantly and UOA fuel dilution numbers dropped.
