997.2 deal closed! So how rare is it really?

I honestly feel bad for whoever got screwed on that one. They got scammed, period. Car had two airbag deployed incidents and bounced around three dealers before landing at PP with the price marked up $30k.

Yes....rare at 1,321. It's nearest competitors, C4 and C4S were built in 10,936 examples combined.

Congrats on the car. It's a beaut!
Curiosity had me looking at those production numbers, specifically for the 997.2 C2S coupes, and something doesn't add up. For years 2010-2012 it shows only about 1,350 made in total. But for all years of 997.2 it shows 9,470 C2S Coupes. Either Porsche massively front-loaded C2S coupe production in 2008-9 (selling some of them as 2008s in RoW and others as early-production 2010s), or else something is wrong with these C2S coupe numbers. If the numbers are correct, then C2S coupes produced after 2009 are nearly as rare as 4GTS coupes?! Seems unlikely.

Plus, you know, I didn't pay the insane BaT markup. So there's that.

BTW, how many 997's do you see on the road compared to 991's? Around here, they are about 1 of 6.

There was this thing called The Great recession that hit in the summer / fall of 2008. Porsche couldn't give their cars away. Tales of $10 - $20k trunk money. A good time to be a buyer.

Around here, I honestly don't see too many. New neighbors down the street though have a nice silver 997.1 C2. See a fair number of Macans and the like, and Boxsters. Lots of 924/928/944. (Like that's a surprise given my home track.) But to my knowledge, the only two 997 GTSes local will be the white C2GTS and my C4GTS. I am more than happy to be corrected though.

No factory aero, alas. And black on black (pretty sure Porsche didn't build a single coupe in midnight blue, which is frustrating.) But it has pretty much everything else. Bose, heated and ventilated 12-way seats, ParkAssist, PDLS, Sport Chrono Plus, PCM 3.0 with factory XM, Multi-Function wheel, full leather interior, painted side skirts, and silver wheels.
Thanks for all the well-wishes! Since she's not under my hot little feet yet (you can tell this because I'm here and not driving the last off the tires) is it OK to share the dealer pictures?

There is a reason. I was an idiot early in my search. I wanted a lower mileage example and didn't realize how hard these cars are to find. Now I'm sitting here months later looking at pictures of your car instead of driving my own. Congrats on your purchase. Looks awesome.

Amusingly, if that's the C4GTS I think it is (the one that was full Alcantara optioned,) passing was the right choice for both of us. Certainly I got a better deal, but there were some definitely iffy things about the history.
But holy crap is the waiting for the work to be done the worst part. I want to drive it!

Since this thread is here and I've been dying to know, what's everyone's opinion on the rarity of my car? In 12 months of searching, I only found 3 other white GTS cars in Canada; none of them optioned anywhere near this one.
