The bat commentary on the listings always gets ridiculous with the tire kickers wanting to bestow their knowledge.

Anyone familiar with this one? Fair price? I’m going to see if my friend can go look at it next week as I’m in AZ, though he’s not as familiar with 996 Turbo’s.

Sorry if I should have posted this in the ‘Craigslist, eBay and other online finds thread.’ There’s quite the discussion going on, debtate between manual vs tippy top tiptronic. Didn’t want to derail that convo...

I looked at this car during the hunt for a purchase. The car was dirty, unkept and appeared to be abused. The underside was heavily scraped up, the engine bay had missing bolts, clips and other small items. It appeared to have been made maintain in someone’s backyard. I did not test drive it as the battery was dead and I lost interest In the car. I have followed the car for some time and it appears the dealership has cleaned it up significantly. It has been on the market for sometime.

I've been looking at this car as well. Thank you for your input!

Jshirley, thank you for your feedback. I’ll save my friend from wasting his time to check out the vehicle.

Anyone know this vehicle? Is the going rate for 20k-ish mileage Turbo S vehicles?

Near ATL

I'm near there and have a good friend down there. Let me know if anyone has interest and I'll try to get down there for closer look.

Wow, 75k with over 60k miles. That's fantastic to see.

Another RNM. Difficult to understand why this one stopped at 58k. I'd have thought 70k easy.

I think the color combo held it back. I like gray interiors with a contrasting trim but silver over gray is a bad combo.

70K?! One thing to consider is that these are all 15+ year old cars.

Even the low mileage units will still have brittle plastic boost/vac lines, seeping radiator endcaps/coolant manifold tubes and hardened rubber coolant lines... to add insult to injury they're all going to spit little black foam buggers out of the HVAC vents. 70K is not a cheap date. Call me cheap, but If the old girl is going to spit, I'd like it reflected in the price.

Concur on the color combo. Plus, not a highly optioned car, so the "bones" aren't there for a premium price, even with the low mileage. Also, we might be seeing a little "996TT fatigue" on BaT as they have been running as many as 3 at a time for quite a while now.

Back in April if I recall correctly a 14k mile one did $71k

I think some of the really high sale prices on BAT are from a really small group of folks who just take a fancy to a particular car and pay very-top-of-market prices for them because, well, they like them, don't like hunting for cars, and $10-20K premium just doesn't mean that much to them. Often they have bought multiple cars or at least bid high prices on multiple cars...

eg: The guy who bought the '05 Turbo with 60K miles for $75,600 also bought a $126K 930 in the last month as well... Likely "diversifying" into some Porsches with dollar cost averaging ;-)

If you don't have one of those particular buyers interested in a car, the final prices are nowhere near as high.

---

But I agree, grey interiors and brown interiors just didn't suit the 996 gen Turbos very well. For some reason, they make the car seem MUCH more dated than a great condition black interior.

Grey doesn't age well. However natural brown looks very good with white, black or red exterior. I have Natural Brown/Carrara White and it is one of my favorite color combo's. I am going to give BAT a try as I am selling the car.
