I have been reading most of the comments on these auctions the past couple of months and it is interesting how as prices rise there is a corresponding increase in posts stating how beautiful the 996TT design really is.

This one is the best. NSXavier, "Speed Yellow 997 Turbo owner chiming in. Looking at picture 5 makes me realize that the silhouette of the 996 is better than the 997. And that makes me sad. :-("

Bid is at $60k already.

Just did a quick scan of previous BaT listings. Interestingly enough within the last year and a bit there were 6 speed yellow Turbos including a couple X50's and and S model listed. 4 RNM and 2 sales. They all had very reasonable mileage and at a quick glance look like very decent cars. The love was just not there like it seems to be with this one. Has the market and respect these cars deserve just changed or is it this particular car because of the mileage? Seems like someone flicked a switch.

He probably just got a 997 because he couldn't afford a 996.

Coming from a 997 Turbo myself, I do prefer the overall design and comparative styling simplicity of the 996.

With buyers premium almost $90k.

That is a record smash for a normal 996TT.

Makes one think it may very well be going into a collection, and still not driven.

Agree, it'll probably never get driven.

Damn, everything's getting pricey. Now my goal of having two TT's in two different colours and specs is going to cost me more hours of my life...

No, nor do I. I recall reading an article about a fellow (cannot recall his name) and he had a massive collection of yellow Porsche's - someone else has an equally impressive collection of white ones.

What I could do with unlimited resources...

The buyer posted in the sale thread that he is going to drive it.
