I would like to think that this car fits into this thread, there aren't many 1 owner X50 cars out there.

2003 Black x50

It surely does. I hope it's a consignment.

Yeah, they probably should remove that Kelly Blue Book widget from the advertisement, where it shows the price range for that car is $45,700 to $52,100 since the asking on it is $69,900. Just sayin'. But, people will pay top dollar at Isringhausen.

I think the 01 at 71k was a bit of an outlier. Two very committed bidders in the same place at the same time.

Plus there have been quite a few 996tts on bat in the past few weeks, there might be a bit of fatigue setting in. They should wait a couple weeks before listing another one.

I agree, it is market saturation. I have seen it happen at real world auctions. Two very similar cars and for some bizarre reason the first onto the block almost always brings more money than the second.

Decent sale price for a X50 Cab.

Cabs and Tips are the deals of the century right now.

I think it's very well bought. And yes, I have the thought of a hi-mile tippy cab knocking at the back of my mind, and I'm struggling to keep it out.

I do enjoy watching clean 996TTs pass through BaT (sometimes jokingly referred to as Bring a Porsche, right?) but that car that hit $71k got everyone's attention. I definitely feel it was an outlier, but gave the impression that people are definitely willing to pay up for premium 996TT inventory too.

It was no outlier. Three 996TTs on BaT have broken $70k in the past eight months.

Nice to see the prices are still rising for the clean low mile examples= great cars worth every penny.

Is there any reason to believe that higher mileage examples like mine will ever go "Up" or be considered "desirable" or "collectable" in terms of bringing more money?

Not quite like the 993's did obviously, but just simply due to the age, design, nostalgia, etc.?

I respectfully disagree. IMHO these prices are a valuation trend for collector quality cars, not high end deviations. If the 3800 mile car was posted on BaT tomorrow it would sell for over $75k. Maybe break $80k.

IMHO, and if history repeats, yes to all of the above. Over time as more miles are accumulated on a majority of these cars even "high mileage" cars will be desirable. Their values will never come close to the sub-20,000 mile unicorns but they will have value well above where they are today. Condition will become the major valuation factor. It will take a decade or more for this to happen though.
