That white on natural brown is beautiful though it looks like the rear bumpers were painted white?

Picking up from a local fellow rennlister a pristine Speed Yellow 2002 with black leather, 3 pedals, alu dials, SY belts and deviated stitching, two prior owners, great service records, and only 16k miles. Stoked! Been jonesing for SY for years. Thank goodness I didn't keep bidding on the '01 Tip Sharkwerks bumblebee earlier this week, which had a bizarre RNM ending. Pictures once we get clear weather in NorCal sometime next week.

Do you have three of them now or are those cars you used to have?

Jeez, wish I had space for 3 Turbos...at least now you can buy parts in bulk!

How do you like having the Tip?

I loved the Tip-S (AMG Speedshift R) in my Mezger (YUGE mistake selling it)

Almost as much as folks loved it in MacLaren SLR!

(same gearbox)

I like driving the Tiptronic but the thumb buttons are goofy relative to paddles and I don't want to cut the bone stock wheel to do the paddle retrofit.

Have you considered buying an extra wheel to do the paddle conversion?

congrats! You beat me to that one. Would appreciate your thoughts about the 996 turbo after you’ve settled into it.

On my (short lived) Cayman S Tiptronic, I did a paddle conversion using AMG paddles, It was relatively easy. I did buy a spare wheel just in case I screwed it up, but once the paddles were on, they were so good they were never coming off. Light years better than the silly thumb buttons. This was on a 9x7 generation steering wheel, not a 9x6, but I imagine it is nearly identical in process.

The AMG paddles are part #1712670046, cheaper when I bought them but now about $200 (which is still pretty dang cheap for super high quality paddles)

I am happy to post an update and photo or two as the months unfold. From my time spent in person with the seller and the car, it's incredible. I don't expect any surprises in performance given my familiarity with the 996 TT but the paint is immaculate, the black leather interior with deviated yellow stitching, yellow belts and speed yellow center console are all incredible. The maintenance records are extensive.

EDIT: my paint gauge and Durametric session confirmed zero paint work and de minimis Stage 2 revs.
