Correct on the 959.

Water cooling was inevitable - as sanyata notes, it was a requirement to meet emissions targets that were lower than what the air cooled engines could ever achieve.

Yes exactly; that's it in a nutshell. The driving experience got better. The aura is gone. That's the whole point of @palladio's post.

We don't dispute that the 992 posts better numbers than the 911SC. We dispute it's horrid smell.

And the binnacle-less dash, the horribly small shifter and the further evolution into electronic control.

Palladio’s post is his opinion and his perceptions. They are not facts and do not speak for me and many other multiple 911 owners.

As for the horrid smell. Have you been in an original condition first generation long hood 911 lately? They don’t smell like leather, and didn’t smell like leather when they were new. They smell like burning oil and pollution.

I don’t begrudge anyone enjoying the nostalgia of an old Porsche. But there’s no need to besmirch the newer models for being evolved.

And the 959 only had water cooled heads.
Isn't it the same with the 996tt? Water cool heads.... air/oil block?

The 996TT engine is “fully” water cooled via water jackets around the cylinders.

My old 3.2 smelled like rancid motor oil, I'll give you that. The 964 & 993's smelled like Rolls Royce's. That was nice. And they all sounded like LeMans (including and especially the 6TT)

Yes, sometime evolution is enjoyable.

It looks to be almost 20% in this particular sale, and averages about 15% overall. Which is a lot.

Not a Turbo, but speed yellow makes it totally worth the ask, right?
