Default Craigslist, EBay and Other Online Finds

Btw am I the only one who finds this $x9,990 pricing convention demented? I can understand it for a toothbrush or a carton of milk or some other supermarket item, but do people really believe that a person buying a $60k car isn't going to stop and think for half a second and figure it's $60k, not really 50-something?

Well, a practical reason for that pricing convention is that when you search for a car, search results are often presented sorted price low to high. If you price the car a little below a landmark price, it will be presented before the cars priced at that landmark.

Well, the $39,999 price tag kept me $1 below the Cali luxury tax.

Also keeps it below the search engine threshold.

Which threshold? If you set your search to between X and, say, $50,000, do $50,000 cars get rejected from the search? I don't think so.

Yeah, rick, I tend to agree that if your threshold is $50,000 and you price the car at $50,000, then it should be included. But, I'm not willing to bet the sale of a $50,000 car on it. Plus, if I price it at $49,999.99, that just seems way cheaper, am I right?

Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot...a fixture of late night TV in southern California for decades. His prices always ended with "ninety-five". I recommend searching youtube for a few of his commercials. He had tigers, elephants, goats....he once strapped himself to the wings of an airplane.

Price seems high for an 01 with 57k miles. Just my opinion though.

Ad says bought in June 16. Also lists a ton of stuff repaired "in the last year". Typo? I would ask for a genuine reason for sale, flipping it after 1 year (?) after so many repairs...

that was my first reaction as well...June 2016 was last month. Maybe he meant June 2015, which is still suspect. But the list below is not a cheap list...

"I purchased the car in June 2016 and have driven it less than 1,500 miles. The Pre Purchase Inspection I had done by a 3rd party Porsche dealer is available upon request. Work I've done in last year (paperwork available) includes: (i) new clutch; (ii) new brakes (front/back rotors and brake pads); (iii) new battery; and (iv) new water pump, thermostat, expansion tank and aluminum adapters for cooling."

I reached out and requested the PPI as a start. I'll probe a little deeper after I review the report. Seems a little suspect to get all that stuff taken care of just to sell. May also be reflective of the price point being where it is...
Not in a hurry, just happened to be the color combo I am looking for.
Thanks for the input guys 👍

The price isn't out of this world if the car is truly 100%.....just need to figure out why he's selling so soon as there could be one of a dozen reasons not related to the car.
