The 550 Spyder is a Beck (replica). Still pretty cool though.

The guy in the Beck and the E-type are a trip... Both older gentlemen, but true enthusiasts that drive the crap out of their cars and excellent drivers. Top down the entire way yesterday, pretty brisk weather! We also had an XJ120 with us yesterday, also top-down. I'm a wimp on the other hand, close even the sunroof if it's below 60....

So, after only three years my eRams failed. The left side stopped working. I contacted David who told me I was out of warranty (2 years), but was kind enough to sell me two new rams. Although I am pretty disheartened that they failed so soon, I am happy they are working again.

Oh wow sorry to hear that's really sucks especially since it's such an expensive upgrade you would think Dave would at minimum offer a rebuild or replacement at no cost even at 3 years. Thanks for the heads up I was going to get e-Rams eventually but I'll just have my OEM rebuilt every 13 years instead.

That sucks Linwood, happy that Dave made good as he could.

For me, I just sat in mine, started it up, and went vroom vroom for twenty minutes.

That's less than ideal!

Isn't it the "one and done" mentality that has owners choosing an eRam upgrade over a basic bench bleed of the stock system which usually gets them working nicely again?

I have had eRams on my car for ~9 years. Zero problems.

you must mean XJ 120 or 150 as the 220 is not convertible or targa.

Three years is even less than the the factory hydraulic rams usually last. I would never have considered them in the first place because I think they are ugly but hearing about this failure might make more people reconsider. The seller probably should have eaten the cost as a good will warranty or even just for good publicity.

Before this goes too far I think we should all look at the data a bit.

Rennkit has sold hundreds of the eRam sets all around the world over the past decade. Other than LinwoodM's failure I cannot think of another failure being reported here in the past couple of years. Sometimes stuff just breaks.

Why didn't you just drive one of mine instead?

You are correct. The point people are trying to make, is that he should have warranted the actuator instead of making me buy a new set for $400. In business, things always go wrong. However, how the customer is treated speaks volumes. I will probably not buy anything else from him because of this. I will also encourage others not to. What adds insult to injury, is that he told me he would sell me the new ones for “only $400” because I am a return customer….

So, after taking everything apart, I have learned that the motor is what failed. I bought another motor for $25. Even though I have it all fixed with the new stuff, I am going to try to repair these ones as a spare set.

Here is where I purchased it…

Just to be clear I have no issue with you expressing your opinion of Rennkit customer service.

My post was directed at others who have had zero interaction with RennKit "piling on" so to speak.
