Timely post. I just watched a YT review of the PCCM+; looks really impressive. The install pics (in the video I watched) looked a little more involved than I expected. Also are there two HW modules on the dashboard; one for GPS and the other for voice?

For your PCCM install, where did you put the usb hookup?

I am trying it out in this location without permanently mounting it for now.. The USB cord gets tucked under the trim so its inconspicuous.
t fits snug under the Foot vent and the carpeted tunnel.

The GPS unit is needed so that the Maps work (if you use the factory maps) also for the clock to sync and change time according to your GPS location.
I mounted mine on the top of the instrument panel where the security light is located. You flip open the cover and there is a convenient spot where the GPS antenna is supposed to fit. The GPS antenna has a magnetic base and this silver area is a metal plate where the New GPS antenna can fit.
I squeezed the cord in between the security light so that I did not have to do any trimming of parts.

The microphone actually has a home to the on the instrument binnacle to left of the speedometer under a mesh looking cap. But I just ran mine to sit on the steering wheel for now.
To run it to the left of the speedometer, you need to remove the instrument binnacle

Interesting. On both of my installs, the cord from the USB box was never long enough to go anywhere useful, so I left the actual USB box in the little metal tray part of the radio and just ran the USB cable down to the cubby in the bottom console area. I've had the PCCM+ in my '04 Boxster SE since October of 2020 and I haven't had the need to plug anything else into the radio, so I am okay with my decisions... I just never thought of putting it on the side like this.
You know what was wonderful, though? Using USB cords with 90 degree bends. These ones.
Amazon Amazon
It really makes it take up less space in the cubby.
Edit: Here's the picture!

I drove a flatbed truck yesterday for 12 hours to pick up a race car. The truck topped out at 120kph foot on the floor.
Got into the 996 to go home and put my foot on the floor.
Holy expletives!!!
Tires broke loose, .9bar! Almost spun it.
Lesson learnt. The RWD only 996 turbo is not a flatbed truck with a race car.

That is very cool; add some turn signals and brake lights and it should be a good commuter car...

Right. After watching Top Gear I guess they are hard to drive. Plus it's old. I wonder how it would perform today. It would be a shame if a Toyota Camry could take it.

Ok, so maybe I'm a duffus, but I just noticed that your mirrors are tucked in.
Was that a mod or do they really swing closed manually/electrically??

If you are referring to the yellow car, it is not mine...

They all fold in manually.

Does anyone know why we get that ghosting pattern in the rear window and how to remove it?
