I cleaned my radiators and can't believe how dirty they were. I may also have found a small leak in my center and driver side radiators. I don't know if its leaking or just absorbed some QD when I was spraying earlier. There was no crust around any particular areas. I don't really have any problem with my coolant system, but will schedule the radiator replacement and purchase of the CSF radiators. I have been topping off the coolant every few months with a few ounces so this is where it must be from. I hope all of that cleaning improves the temps in the meantime. Is there any issue with driving the car this way as it doesnt over heat or really exhibit any problems. Are the rads downstream from the motor?

Installed a Braille 21 light weight battery, installed 997Cup front toe arms with bump steer, replaced my 1100F/1200R springs with 1400F/1500R rates, and performed my first ever alignment and corner balance. Since this was my first time doing an alignment and CB, it took me about 5hrs. It was a very tedious process but quite rewarding in the end.

Waiting for your results with the new spring rates. What is the reason for having only a 100lbs difference between F&R?

I am at 800F/1000R and need more, not sure how much more though. Was thinking 1200F/1400R.

I ended up going with a 100lb split at the urging of my friend who is a professional driver that has spend many years racing these cars. He is the one that has done the set up on my whole car and has absolutely transformed it. I just wish I would have listened to him from day 1 and done the 1400/1500 set up from the start. I am now running 1400/1500 with 150/250 helpers. The car is very well balanced with my GT3 sway set in the middle in the front and one hole from full soft in the rear. I have three track day coming up at the end of this week and will have more feedback then.

My understanding for the 100 lb. split is the fact that we have slightly more rear weight bias in our cars (due to the intercoolers, Turbos, etc.) compared to a Cup car for example. A 997Cup runs 1484/1484 rates but is 400-500lbs lighter than our cars. Ideally, I'm told a no holds barred spring set up on my car would be in the 1700-1800lb range but my current shocks are not valved for that. Whatever the case may be, I have been very happy with the 100lb split, it just plain works. The 200lb split may work fine for an AWD set up which may have a bit more inherent push it it but for RWD the 100 split is great.

If you are at 800/1000 and are looking to go up in rates, I'd go at least 200-300 lbs more per corner. Assuming your shocks can handle those rates, there won't be any issues. The 1100/1200 rates I had were a great street/track compromise but even at 1400/1500 the car is very street friendly. I spent almost 40miles driving it yesterday back and forth to the shop and it felt great. I don't really car much about what the car feels like on the street as it's mainly a track toy for me but I'm pleasantly surprised how street friendly this set up is.

powdrhound, great info thank you.

I have the KW V3s and are adjusted almost to the max settings for compression. So I figure they can handle the extra spring rate by adjusting the compression settings down.

Still running AWD, so sticking with the 200lbs split.

Not sure what you used to set toe, but I am a big fan of SmartStrings. Having a low rise lift and alignment platforms with turntables also makes the job a lot easier (almost trivial depending upon the adjustments available on the car).

Are you selling the previous GT3 LCAs? I presume you had those.

Hi Chris,

I didn't swap out my LCAs, just the front toe arms. For the alignment I used the Beissbarth laser alignment machine. No strings. Basically, you remove the large 400ft/lb. center hub nut on each wheel and then screw a foot long steel tube onto the wheel hub tension bolt. You then attach the laser alignment head to each steel tubes which results in perfect centering because you are centering the machine to each wheel hub instead of the wheel rim where even a tiny bit of run out will throw off the results. This is really a slick way of doing it. The whole car is raised up and rested on 4 pylons with the corner balance scales placed on top. Prior to the car being placed on the pylons, they are perfectly leveled using a laser resulting in a dead level surface (each pylon has adjustable legs). My friend who owns the shop can knock it out in under two hours easy but first time doing it took me almost 5. Here is an old pic from a previous alignment last year:
