Replaced my alternator, finally. Anyone know book time on that job? Pelican says 4 hours, which is what it took me. Great to get to know the engine even better. I think I inadvertently found a bit more boost in the process of replacing alternator. I logged some 3rd and 4th gear pulls yesterday with Durametric, and same runs again today (after alternator replacement), and today's half a dozen pulls were typically 0.1 bars higher than yesterday. Same gas, same weather, same road, same driver, same right foot. Guessing maybe something wasn't quite cinched down in the boost network yesterday, and upon reassembly today, I got it seated a bit better? Open to other theories.

Fun test drive overall, until the !@#$ spoiler light went on for the first time since I bought it a couple months ago. Not looking forward to my earning PhD in spoiler mechanics, fluids, electricals. Maybe I'll just take my chainsaw to it...

pelican ( same as ) book time for an alt replacement of four hrs is about right. for the estimate. i ( "we"... when i say "i" i always mean "we" ) did mine in two hrs or under. another driveway extravaganza. but that's how book time works. it's always two "actual" hours of labor and two hours for the "house".

i have the spoiler re-bleed step by step if and when you need it. it's not for the feint of heart. but if you are doing this stuff on your own and are a DIY'r unless you can't?. you can do it. doing most anything on these the first time takes book time or longer. reasonably so. but the 7th time? cut book time in half.
