What did you do to your 996TT today?

$9999.89 repair bill. New clutch. GT2 slave conversion that was supposed to be in there that wasn't so new accumulator & other fun stuff. New water pump, thermo, coils, plugs, welded the pipes, all new hoses & SS lines, and a bunch more engine/transmission bits that just kept adding up. Between that and the $2k CV/control arm repair when I first got it, my 6 months of ownership are running something like $4/mile.....before purchase price/BAT fee/sales tax...
But she should be good to go for a long time now.

Sorry, wasn't clear. Was listed on BAT featuring GT2 slave mod, but when they got in there it wasn't there, just OEM so just kept it as-is, as shop was seriously pushing back against said mod.

That sucks...it's some major BS to advertise something was done when it was not. It really gives me negative vibes about the car community when I hear about stuff like that.
I feel your pain - when I bought my car I was told it had the coolant lines pinned, which it did not. Luckily everything else was as advertised, but still...

I see it here:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-911-turbo-42/
Looks like you bought it very well at $37,500 plus 5% BAT fee, so don't sweat the additional investment too much. Was the water pump and coolant pipe welding just preventative, or did you have an issue?
Also, the auction said it had a GT2 pressure plate and disk, which is completely different than a GT2 clutch slave conversion. Sounds like Seller didn't mis-represent, but rather you mis-understood?

I think that for some multi-owner Turbos, especially those with a long list of previous owners, an accurate accounting of what's been done to the car over the years can be very difficult. Not only is there the fact that previous owners may have performed substandard repairs (maybe taking the Macgyver approach), but there is also the potential that the "word of mouth" chain regarding what has been done to the car is not accurate. All it takes is for an ill informed used car dealer to take a 996 Turbo in on trade and assume that the heavy clutch represents a GT2 conversion when in fact it's just a shot accumulator on a stock system.

Still waiting to hear back from Kevin with the tune. However, in the meantime have received the custom lines/proportioning valve for the 997 GT3 Brake MC and expecting the continental headunit any day now...

Well, my Golf R won't be here until at least early next week and a friend and I want to go mtn biking this weekend. I'd picked up a used OEM roof rack a year ago but never mounted it. It's got "aero" rails so I need to adapt my current bike trays from square bar mounts to aero mounts. I picked up the necessary kits from Rocky Mounts and decided to go to it this evening.
Lots of head scratching until I realized I was missing some parts. Then I turned my garage inside out looking for them, knowing that I'd just seen them last week. I glossed over a bag multiple times as I just looked into it from the outside, not actually opening it.
I'd resigned myself to having lost the pieces when I decided I'd go look on more time, my eye fell on that bag, I opened it up this time and Hey! there are all the parts I needed!
Mounted the racks to the car, then spent *hours* converting the bike trays to fit. Finally got it all done...

Yeah in re-re-re reading the BAT listing + looking at the invoices I'm simply an idiot and assumed too much. Welding the pipes had to be done--shop reported one fell out as they were taking the engine out & had coolant pools under another. I'm going to be happy that its done & hopefully no heavy lifting for a long time....but yeah still ouch.
