It is.. well, it used to be- very peaceful and relaxing in Fayetteville/PTC area, close enough to the city without having to deal with living in the city. Roberta is a nice quiet town, used to pass through often.. I had family in Warner Robins area, a little south of there actually called Kathleen. There's one highway I used to always take a detour to drive through on the way down, I think it was highway 42 from Roberta down through to Byron that had some nice long sweepers that were fun and plenty safe to take at a spirited pace. Almost never any traffic, keep in mind this was 15 or so years ago though. I would exit off of 475 and back track a little through the country heading west of Macon and stop at a country store in Roberta for gas then head east on 42 and enjoy the roads and get back I-75 in Byron. Added an hour or so to the trip, but it was a nice break from the highway monotony.

No airline connections- family was in medical field before they retired in late 90s and I moved down to Florida after graduating high school.

You speak the truth, I had my ‘01 TT at the dealership for its first major svc about two years ago w/ around 22-23k miles. The following day I received a call from the svc manager letting me know the car was ready and that I got very lucky because all the plugs were original and one in particular required a good amount of work to get out. The amount of time is a big factor!

Window fix 101:

Took some slack out of my window regulator cable... Did the bicycle cable barrel adjuster trick and seems to be working like new. Quite simply just a slotted bicycle brake style cable adjuster that I slipped over the cable and threaded into the existing cable stop to make the cable tension a bit tighter and adjustable.

Window worked pretty well before, all microswitches good, no bad noises, but the front of the window just didn't drop quite as much or as quickly as it should when you lifted the inside or outside door handle.

Yup, could have put in a brand new regulator, but I've heard the aftermarket regulators can have the cable tension problem right out of the box and the factory regulator is $350 or so, and really everything looks in great shape on the regulator other than the slack cable, so we will see how well this works, perhaps it will work as well and last as long as at least an aftermarket regulator...

Part of me felt like I should just put in a completely new regulator, but I wouldn't replace a motor that just needed new brushes, so fix vs. replace it is...

Wow... Those are NASTY! In addition to all the fouling, the electrodes wear is impressive... Stock tune? No misfires?

For comparison, this is what the plugs looked like (vs new) at my last plug change. I believe they had about 30K on them.

Send those to me. I'll pop them in my car for another 50k.

Wow, how could those plugs look like that and not be mis-firing?

I found a few other threads describing similar fixes and just adapted it a bit more. I think the first mention of it I saw was a thread over on the 986forum board by user 'Dave S' and some other discussion on the renntech forum.

So far it is working flawlessly and completely resolved my 'front of the window isn't dropping quite enough when I pull the handle' problem. Of note is that I went to a couple of different bike shops and the repair guys dug through some spare parts to find the adjuster. I actually ended up bringing three different ones home of slightly different diameters. The smallest one is the one that threaded nearly perfectly into the existing green cable stop.

Another picture of it routed back on the pulley, with a cable tie added just in case...
