Default Tires for street/track suggestions.......

I picked up a set of hollows and had them painted black to give the car an alterego when I'm feeling facetious and need to outfit them with rubber.

I have put a list together of tires I can run on street and the occasional DE.

Any thoughts on my list?

Additions/Suggestions?

Thanks Chris! I'll look into those. That would be perfect if it slots between the PS2 and MPSC.

**edit**

I just logged on the Tire Rack site and they don't show anything larger than a 275 for the rear??? They show only a 265 as the largest on the Bridgestone site and nothing for a 11" wheel.

Michelin PS2: good, but NO -01 is better
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup: very good if you know how to drive it. i dont.
Yoko Advan AD08: ???
Yoko Advan A048: this is even worse than R888. i have never met any fast driver or slow driver for that matter who liked this thing.

I'm thinking the Nittos or MPSC at this point.

There is an N rated MPSC now, if it's available in your size check it out. I ran them on the street for a year with no issues, more of a street tire than the traditional MPSC.

If you do a lot of street driving I would skip MPSCs. However on dry tracks they are STILL (after 8 years or so?) the fastest track tires you can drive on street as well.

I drive MPSCs, but if a lot of street driving scheduled I swap to PS2 that are on other wheels.

In 19s the rears go all the way out to 315 I believe, I guess 18s stop at 275 with the RE11s. Agree with the N rated pseudo cups, they are much more of a street tire than the old school, real cups. Not sure they offer those in 18s.

Yup, the MPSC N-spec is in 19's only as well as the Bridgestones.

In the NT01 I would run the 245/315 setup. I ran that on the GT3 and liked it.

The MPSC (or NT01) would be driven on the street on rare instance but would be driven to the track.

These are for a second set of wheels anyway.

Are you asking me or John?

Personally, I really like the NT01 in ALL conditions. The MPSC is a good tire but it's very tempermental. It's works well in hot conditions or it will break away unexpectedly.

R888 is just not the best option compared to its rivals at that price point.

Thanks Dell, I drive my car to events so I needed something with good grip but also decent treadwear, it looks like the NT01s are the best compromise. It also looks like the 245/40/18 - 315/30/18 will be OK with the 4wd system, but 235-315 would be even better. I am pretty sure Porsche recomends no more than 3% circumference difference betweek front and back.
