Default My new 996TT - Doug DeMuro's old 996 Turbo

Well Folks, the wait is over (for now at least). It's kind of a long story but I was turned onto this car by a very awesome Rennlist member that found it. He did some investigating and found out the seller purchased this car from THE Doug DeMuro (Famous YouTube car reviewer). Doug is / was a member here and advertised it here also. I'll post his original threads below. Doug only owned it a few months but decided to sell it (2012) after he was given a company car (according to old threads). Doug worked for Porsche America at the time and I have all / most of his receipts / repair / maintenance records with his name on them. The big one was replacing the Clutch approx. 15K miles ago. As well as the previous owners records 2012 - 2018 where he had it serviced and many items replaced / repaired during ownership. It also has a professionally installed high end stereo / speaker system and a laser jammer from a local place here (I went to high school with one of the owners of the place) called Car Tunes (Atlanta).

The previous owner I just purchased from used local Porsche dealers for service / repair almost exclusively and I have also his records. He spent plenty of money on it as well, to include:
A brand new AC compressor system (83K miles) Basically a Major 60K service with everything on the receipt.New Rear Tires (83K miles)
-New Drivers window life Mechanism (83k Miles)
-Airbag Clock Spring Assembly (83k Miles)
-Brake system flush (74,532 Miles)
-Drivers door exit handle tension spring (71.5K Miles)
-New Brake Rotors / Pads (71,317 Miles)
-Front Differential Seals (71,317 Miles)
-Center transmission mount (71,317 Miles)
-Clutch Kit (Doug) at 68,160 Miles
-Ignition Switch (68,149 Miles)
-Many Many other small items receipts and oil / filter / service receipts.

-Original CarFax from Doug DeMuro from March 2012.
-Original Autotrader ad. Doug posted from March 2012

Black / Black 2001 Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo 6MT
86K miles
It does need a few small things and will get some (not all) of the items repaired from Todays PPI. The previous owner actually took it to Jim Ellis Porsche this morning and paid for a PPI for me ($260). I'll post pics of the PPI and what they say it needs. The only real main things they say it needs is new Struts / Coil overs all around. The engine / tranny / etc. checked out fine!!

Here are the old Doug DeMuro Rennlist threads.

Here are a few pics of the car from the previous owner. I took just a few today when he delivered the car to me but it needs cleaned. Also posting the PPI pics.

Needs new tail lights, or at LEAST "Light Savers".

This was a check up check list the previous owner had done just a few hundred miles ago...I'll post today's PPI stuff in a sec.

Today's PPI

BTW, I have no idea what the "Clutch Chatter" comment is all about. The previous owner was wondering too. It drives fine and reverses fine with no noises. Now I did hear a VERY slight "rattle" when idling and the clutch released in neutral but it goes away when you depress the clutch pedal. Do they normally have throwout bearing noise???

Does the car have OEM rear wing mechanicals? It doesn't look to be full down in the pictures.

Forgot to mention that part. The internals have been removed and the spoiler is hard set in that position. I'm not sure if I'm going to try to do a RennKit or something or just leave it be.

Since this car is black and I really wanted a Silver one (actually a silver 997TT), this will be my entry into the Turbo scene and then I'll move onto to big / better sometime in the future.

Doug is the everyday car guy, and he always loved the 996 platform. He did a recent c4s review and did it well. Congrats on the car and have fun with the quirks.

* were there elephants sitting in the back seats?

Thank you Sir. Yes, I watched the C4S vid of his best friends car here in ATL. I almost bought a C4S also.

I sent him an email to see if he'd be interested in doing a video of his old car. We'll see if he's interested.

Your taillight flanges are broken, at least the left one is. Please Get some light savers before you lose the taillights on the highway.

pelican has them too

Yup!! not even going to drive it until I get some or replace the whole light assembly's for both sides. Not sure I'll spend that much though.

Thanks!

Any other suggestion on what I should buy immediately for this car, please post up.

I might as well order everything at once.
