Well I know y'all will think I'm crazy but I think I'm going to sell this car. It was kind of the original plan anyway to make this my entry into the "Turbo" world and then move up. I just didn't think I would do it so soon. Unless I change my mind again (Very likely), I've found a couple of 997TT's I really want.
Anyway, I've done a few things that needed do but the car is well sorted (by previous owner especially) and as far as I can tell now, doesn't need anything but to be driven (which I've done as much as my time will allow, which isn't much). Just knowing it's in the garage makes me smile. A Silver / Grey 997TT sitting there will make it even bigger smile.
First $38,500 takes it.
(Me)
New Floor Mats
New Front Lip Spoiler
New rear side marker light
New Light Savers just installed (old ones were older soft material and were cracking)
(Previous Owner)
Recent oil / filter / brake flush change
Recent 60K major service along with a brand new AC compressor / system
New rear tires (front have over 60-70% left on them)
New Rotor / Pads / system flush
New Clutch (stock Porsche parts confirm through email with Doug Demuro- He worked for Porsche so he got his big discount)
High end stereo / iPod / Sirius XM w/speak box / amp installed by CarTunes here in Atlanta
Laser detector / jammer system installed.

Here's the ad I was / am working on with links to Doug Demuro article featuring the car and vids I've shot recently for people interested.
2001 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo
87K miles, 6MT, Blk / Blk,
Clean CarFax
Formerly Owned by Doug DeMuro & is the car in his “996 Turbo” Article he wrote. Doug also worked for Porsche at the time.

I purchased the car from the gentlemen Doug refers to in the article. The only reason I’m selling is that I’ve recently decided to purchase an awesome example of the 997 Turbo. I wish I could afford to keep both.
High points of the car: New rear tires, recent oil change, clutch/brakes less than 16k miles. Top of the line sound nav. system (original saved). Laser Jammer system installed. All service done at Porsche dealer. Previous owner and Doug spared no expense to make vehicle mechanically flawless. Looks great & drives great.
This is the email from the previous owner I purchased the car from:
“Purchased in April, 2012. Car had 71,000 miles when purchased. Black exterior and interior, all wheel drive, 18 inch wheels, leather seats, cruise control, power windows, front/side airbags, power sunroof, power mirrors, rear window defroster. I upgraded sound and navigation system to top of the line Kenwood DNX6990HD, which includes Garmin GPS, bluetooth, Sirius/XM radio, CD, rear backup camera. I also added surround sound speakers and a laser speed detection system. I saved the original Porsche Sound/Navigation system, if buyer wants to restore to original.
Mechanically, I have replaced the driver's side window regulator, replaced all brake disks and pads, replaced front differential side seals, and replaced rear tires in 2016 with Bridgestone Potenza tires (original type of tires for vehicle). The previous owner was a Porsche employee and bought the car with about 68,000 miles on it. Previous owner replaced the clutch ($6,000+ service at Porsche dealer), had the front axle rebuilt due to leaking CV boots, repaired a leaking front differential, replaced the ignition lock, and replaced the diverter valves with stronger units than the original rubber parts. All service has been done at certified Porsche dealerships. Car has had more than 2 owners, and was purchased by previous owner from a Florida dealership.
Only flaws in the vehicle are minor cosmetic issues including an inoperable rear spoiler (common problem on 2001), an inoperable windshield washer fluid pump, and some minor interior wear common for a vehicle of its age and mileage. All oil changes have been completed on schedule. Mechanically, the car is completely stock and has never been modified. Clean Carfax, and no accidents. I have original Owner's Manual, floor mats, spare tire, and toolkit. I've moved to DC and no longer have space or time to drive the car. The car is currently garaged in the Atlanta area. Photos are attached. Thank you,”
This is the email I received from the previous owner the morning he had a PPI done at Hennesey Porsche. I can provide the PPI upon request but will put most of the info here in the ad:
“Hi David,
PPI is attached. No surprises. Technician stated in report “vehicle seems to be in pretty good shape.” Engine checked out perfectly. Miscellaneous cosmetic items noted and windshield washer pump, which was inoperable when I purchased. Only item that would need near term attention is front/rear strut bump stops. Dealer estimate about $1,500. If want to come by in morning, either before 9am or after 11am is best so I can make it to church. Thanks,
Kerry”
I’ll provide all receipts I have for the car that is in the binder (Everything back to 2012) but here is a list of almost everything I see that was done to the car and timeline.
2-14-12, 68,149 miles - Clutch slipping diagnosed & Ignition switch replaced = $295.65
2-15-12, 68,169 miles - New Clutch, front axle leak fixed with new CV boots, and diff seals replaced. Horn replaced as well.
2-18-12, 68,287 miles - New Tires & Alignment, Oil Change = $1901.00
3-06-12, 69,391 miles - Diverter Valves replaced & misc. = $339.33
4-13-12, 71,317 miles - New Brakes (rotors / pads), Front Diff rebuilt, misc. Hose replaced, Misc. items replaced. = $3672.26
5-5-12, 71,500 miles - Door handle spring replaced and spoiler fixed position kit installed = $210.86
6-16-12 Sirius XM connect installed = $270.04
8-7-12, 74,532 miles - Oil/Filter change and full brakes system flush = $434.02
9-15-14, 80,544 miles - Oil/Filter change, Cabin Air Filter change, AC inspection & recharge. = $507.19
12-3-15, 83,552 miles - Brand new AC compressor and system replaced, New Rear Tires, Oil / Filter change, Alignment, New Cabin air filter, reverse bulbs, and misc. items - $5260.11
5-12-16, 83,659 miles - New window lift mechanism and steering wheel clock spring assembly replaced. = $1516.44
4-10-17, 86,041 miles - Oil / Filter change and complete brake system Flush = $455.36
2-17-18, 86,539 miles - PPI done by Jim Ellis Porsche - Everything checked out except a few non essential things which I’ve already handled a few of. I’ll provide pics and / or the PDF of the PPI.
2-20-18, 86,545 miles - I replaced the front Floor Mats with factory Porsche mats. = $122.62
2-22-18, 86,559 miles - I replaced the rear marker light bulb mentioned in the PPI.
3-10-18, 86, 710 miles - I replaced the old front spoiler lip mentioned on the PPI.
The Bad:
1-The paint isn’t perfect but still looks great. Front bumper could use a respray or a new bumper painted without the bumperettes.
2-The spoiler is fixed in one position, but can be moved up or down to suit your taste.
3-The dash leather has tightened up and pulled back from the front a bit. Seen in the video. I’m not sure if someone could treat the leather and re-install it to the normal position or not.
Asking $38,500.00
Videos: I apologize for it not being as clean as it should. The pollen here this time of year is Horrible. The first vid was shot after the second one I’m posting. The pollen was worse that day I shot the long vid.

LOL Yeah, I did this a lot when I was younger too. But then settled down a bit. Only when I decided to get back into Porsche did this happen.
It won't hurt my feelings to keep it for sure. I do love it since it's well sorted, it's just the desire for my favorite color (Silver) and the 997 styling that has me wanting to make the move again.
Thank you!

Well, I did it. I still have the 996TT for now. That should change soon though. Wished I could keep both!

I really do like the headlights on the 996s as well.
But certainly like the 997 old schools.
After driving that 2013 997 TTS last year I almost (and should have bought) and testing launch control with the sales guy in the car, I was kinda hooked. lol
I LOVE a 6MT and always will, but I couldn't find a 2010-2013 6MT for the right price ( so I wouldn't have to worry about the coolant pipe issue of the Mezgers).
Not to mention the deal I got on this car, service history, and brand new tires, oil change, brake flush, alignment done the day I picked it up, just was too good to pass up.
Lastly, as I "drag racer" I just love the straight line stuff as much as I like the curves. Launch control is simply awesome. However, I won't do it that much at all. Want to treat it right and not have issues.
My truck in my sig. was a 10.70@130mph toy. Now I have something really close to that, that'll handle curves and look really classy as well. If I decide to do a Tune / PDK Tune, I could have 550-575 WHP, since it already has the awesome Europipe Exhaust. Then leave it alone!!
Why Yes. Yes it is!!
Yup
