Porsche battery charger/maintainer
My GT3 has been sitting now for a few months and the battery seems to be dead by now (alarm light stopped blinking). I thought I would order a Porsche charger/maintainer from Carnewal, anyone done the same and does the charger work well?
Anything else cool you guys recommend me to buy from Carnewal when I´m ordering??
Thanks!

I have used the cheaper trickle charger version with good results... it's also nice to have around when you lose power and can't pop the boot latch.
Matrox, are you sure your car's dead and not simply in sleep mode?
BTW, I second the CF lid and intake.

I have two Porsche Battery Maintainers from Gert and they make the batteries last a lot longer than their *normal* life span.
Some good info:

CTEK 3300 is better and cheaper. Works wonderfully.
Interstate battery had the distributorship for the US and Canada about $100 CAD. Heres the link. Mine has been adapted to plug into the cigarette lighter. Works great.

Matrox, CTEK is Sweedish as well....

Have the Porsche maintainer plugged in the GT3 and Cayenne- work well. Most of the time the little red light is off, unless you open a door, etc. I plug the Cayenne in if it's going to sit more than 3-4 days without driving as they are supposed to be hard on batteries.

I have 2 Porsche battery maintainers also; one for the Cup car, the other for the 996TT (which has been sitting for 16 months without being started.....don't ask). Starting the Cup car after storage from Oct - Mar was no problem, battery was perfect.

Thanks for all your answers, guys....great info! Has anyone had problems with charging when using the cigarette lighter (with ignition off)? Is it better to connect straight to the battery?

I have had absolutely no problems threw the cigaratte lighter. Cleaner, easier to plug in, cannot use the wrong polarity...don't ask..ok here it is.. don't know on all Porsches but mine has + and - on the battery great, howver after a long night out the next morning was lets just say foggy...+and - in the same color "Black" so you guessed it - connected the wrong polarity. Was use to Red and black anyway be forwarned this olny cost me a fuse on the radio, could have been much worse.

Did not know - if it, is great they are wonderfull compared to what I went trew last season - however they are cheaper threw Intersate and you don't have to go threw the hasle of importing. But Carnewal is great anyways....

I use the Wal-Mart eqivalent battery tender on the p-car, and battery tenders on the motorcycles. They are all equally smart--warn of reversed polarity, cycle so as to avoid overcharges, etc. This technology is cheap now, so go with the low priced spread, as long as it does have a "float" mode and a silicon brain.
I attach the permanent leads to the bolt on the battery clamps and leave the (insulated) connector attached all the time. When I want to plug the p-car in I remove the battery cover and slip the lead under the windshield wiper. Then I close the hood and can plug the cord in to the charger. That way I don't have a wire sneaking out under the hood or the door and can lock/alarm the car. Even with the charger, the remote entry does shut down after a week of inactivity.
