Default Titanium lug nut group buy?

OK, so here it is a side by side: stock GT3 lug nut vs. Titanium. On my scale the OEM weighed in at 94 Grams vs. 57 Grams for the Titanium ones .. about half. I noticed Poggipolini has a "special" on the M3 lug bolts for $380 a set on their website. May be we could get similar pricing for our GT3s in a group buy ... I am not in anyway affilated with Poggipolini.

It is my understanding that Ti and alumnium don't react very well together as metals.

The threads are steel in the wheel hubs and the contact area between the bolts and the wheel are already Titanium on the OEM bolts. I don't know what the rules are here on Rennlist for group buys, but I have a local friend with Poggipolini contacts that can coordinate this or otherwise one of the board sponsors can do this.

I'm interested as well at around $380, please keep me informed as to any progress of a GB. Have to use "Titanium Prep" to prevent galling on the threads, not never-seize, that is no good for use with aluminum or titanium. Also the Porsche ones have a hex socket in the center.

I wouldbe very interested as long as the bolts are the same for Mk.1 GT3. If I'm not mistaking, the thread on the GT3 (Mk.1 and Mk. 2) bolts are longer than the standrard Carrera and the head dimple is marked "GT".

Ciao,

Two other methods of preventing galling is to case harden the material, and to annodize the surface. Either or both of these might apply to the lug bolts as supplied. It might be interesting to determine these details.

IIRC, the MK I GT3 has 5mm wheel spacers and, consequently, 5mm longer wheel bolts. I had put the Mk I wheel spacer kit on my old '99 C4. So, MkI and Mk II wheel bolts are not the same length.

What is the appeal of these lugbolts, beyond looking nice?

Another Ti reminder, keep chlorinated brake-clean away from anything Ti to avoid surface cracking or inclusions..

I wouldn't notice a few grams per wheel. I'll spend my money on tires and brake pads, not Bling lug bolts.

Exactly. Spending $380 on BOLTS that will add nothing in terms of performance, is stupid. Claiming they add to the bling factor is as well, as they are WHEEL bollts unlikely to be noticed.
