Default 992.2 GT3, C2S, T , Turbo rumors

I was just at my Porsche dealer signing documents for a new car. The sales manager told me

1- 992.2 GT3 announcement will be in a month and is Not hybrid.
2- 992.2 Carrera S won’t be announced until Jan 2026, and will NOT have a manual option
3- 992.2 Carrera T will be manual only.
4- 992.2 Turbo S, and GT2RS will be hybrid/PDK
5- there will be a manual 911 Turbo, that is RWD only, like the sport classic, but without some goodies.
6- 718 EV announcement likely in 2 months.

Personally I was shocked that the .2 Carrera S won’t have a manual option. But the more I though about it, this is all a business decision to extract more money for its customers.

A manual T costs about $10,000 than regular base Carrera. The RWD Turbo manual option will cost far more than a C2S manual.

Porsche will still “offer a 911 manual”, but at a much higher cost to 911 owners who must have a manual.

What do you all think about 1-6?

I don't find it shocking at all. In fact, I think that's the way it should've been from the beginning.

The only thing shocking is that T will be manual only. Why limit the amount of people interested in the T? S has already been rumored to be a detuned GTS so no manual is not surprising.

I’ve heard most of the same things from my SA.

I was on the list for an S but when he told me the .2 was going to be PDK only I lost interest. Fortunately I got a .1 S allocation and it’s a manual.

This isn't new news.

Assuming it is actually "news" to begin with.

These rumors have been floated, touted and tossed about around here for a while now.

My guess is that your Sales Manager is an avid reader of Rennlist.

Yup, no surprises here really. Seems like it's question on timing more than anything at this point.

To be honest all dealerships are aware of the 992.2 release schedule and specs - info released even one year or so ago.

Now I understand that most dealership employees might not know about this and maybe "sales managers" do not know

But the info is out there.

And in regards to RL - yes there is a lot of speculation by some people which is not bad if they mention that they are speculating but there is also good precise info - e.g the turbo manual rwd is a fact and there are RListers that have unofficially "reserved" this car. The only problem is to know which posts in RL you can trust. In my opinion the press is also pretty bad in speculating and they have no excuse.

And whatever we say here it seems the 992.2 line up is shaping up quite well and it is quite sophisticated and diverse:

1) E-Turbo Cars: GTS, S, Turbo S. Need to release them to increase bhp and most importantly tackle the green laws. Additionally they have to show engineering innovation which is something that is really needed to stay at the top. The other competitors are already releasing them, can porsche afford not to?

2) ICE only: Base, Turbo, GT3 and ? Quite a good lineup and maybe more, e.g T?

3) Manual Cars: Turbo, GT3, and possibly the T - no official info yet - and maybe more?

4) A few surprises that will keep this even more interesting

To be honest if they keep the same lineup in 2027-2030 or whenever the 994 is released I would be quite happy. it is a good mixture of current and next gen tech as needed imho.

So far it was December 2024. 01/26 is surely wrong. The 4S will be late though and we do not know the reason.

Additionally GT3 is launching in October but let's see beginning of September if this is staying and we get the exact week.

Somewhere in autumn 24 the base 4 has to be released also - just speculating, no solid info

It'll be interesting to see how a manual RWD Turbo plays out. I'm 3rd on a list for a GT3, and have put my name in for this rumored manual Turbo, but have been told that will have a significant wait list. If people had a choice between a manual GT3 or Turbo, what would you go for assuming you don't have the funds for both?

Has anyone heard anything about a future Porsche 912?
