996 Millennium Edition Registry/Info

The PORSCHE people are not trying hard enough to get this match. My local supplier is West Penn Laco in Millvale PA (just North of Pittsburgh) 412 821 3608, ask for George but the problem is that it is a hazardous item to ship - unless you are near-by this won't help much. If it is not Glasurit it won''t be right. I am not in the body shop business but I have been schooled well in this particular endeavor by the supplier and the painter.

Hi Simon... I don't think I ever answered this question... Sorry for the delayed response. So a solid year and approximately 6000 miles later I am happy to report that ME #164 is still running great since the engine rebuild.... here's the list of updates:
- Bored & sleeved with Darton sleeves to 3.5L
- Woessner piston & ring kit (stock rods & ARP bolts)
- Head exhaust ports were gasket matched
- Replaced crank and basket with matched low-miles set from a wrecked boxster 3.2 with same part number.
- All parts of the rotating assembly were dynamically balanced.
- I also bought several IMS shafts and had each tested for roll out, then used the best of the bunch for my build (with new LN double-row bearing)
- Installed Agency Power underdrive pulley
- Installed EBS oil sump baffle
- Added Lightweight flywheel (yes, it chatters a bit at idle despite also being balanced)
- Agency Power headers & sport mufflers, plus the UK TopGear 200 Cell sport cats.
- Innovative Motorsports ECM tune as it was running way to rich.

So it turned out there was a toner in the original paint mix that has been discontinued making it impossible to get a perfect match but they got really close. I'll post photos soon. I just took the car on a 1700 mile road trip and passed 170,000 miles in the process and she's going strong! I've only had to do scheduled maintenance and replace a few worn out components so far.

UPDATE: Sold for $17996. Reportedly headed to France. Told the new owner to join this thread.
#605 popped up today on Bring a Trailer. 165k miles on it, minor mods. Paint looks hazy/cloudy in places but overall the car looks to be in good shape. Really curious to see what it does since it's so similar to mine in terms of miles and mods.

As far as RHD models go, despite the legend, there has to be more than three. We have at least two on the registry (showing up in the last two months no less) and that would be incredible odds to capture two of three with only ~3% of total ME's produced on the list.

Yes thanks Simon, In the last 5 years Iv had it it’s only covered 3k it’s mostly retired and gets pampered to say the least, I go to shows a lot and always gets the attention from enthusiasts although it’s only porsche nuts that recognise it as a millennium, my estimate is there are 5/6 in the Uk but I know 36 came to the Uk in rhd .. but i may be wrong 😂
