good call paul. many of the re-pliers in a perverse are glad that the op,s engine failed.....it gives them a chance to key board fight KK. i would not buy from half these hippocritter po cheerleaders .as for the [ha ha] legal "advice" ninja pleeezzzz......dude could not fix a dog walking case from their mommies basement
Sidebar: is a re-plier the tool you use when the pliers didn't work the first time?
More coherent ramblings can be found written in poo on asylum walls...

This ain't nothing that can't be resolved with some torches and a wagon load of pitch forks!
In all seriousness, if the new owner had known through PO's disclosure that the IMSB replacement was experimental, there is a pretty good chance that he would have replaced it. If based on a free consultation with our local forum attorneys, that KK's action were potentially fraudulent, then the new owner should seek damages for both his sake and "justice's." It will definitely make the PO think twice before doing it again.
I still find it fascinating that PO has not typed another word since Ahsai's posting of the original thread and his realization that he had fully documented his potentially fraudulent acts.
As for the new owner asking for advice on his car... While you might be upside down on market value, you still have one helluva of a car for the amount you have invested in it. As a previous Porsche owner, you already know how special they are and that IF you fall in love with a Porsche, nothing else seems right after that. So enjoy every day you have it like its the last, drive it like you stole it, and smile every time you see it.

Ok just re read the first post. If I read it correctly, the car already has a rebuilt engine in it so car is good to go - just over invested in car.
So here is my advice. The only way to get your monies worth is to drive, drive, drive.
And have a drink and forget about it. Time makes it seem not as bad. Trust me. I was $45K into a 1999 in 7 months of ownership.
As far as legal action - yes there is a case - but is it worth it? That's a personal call.
But the bad bearing reveal by IMO? OMG. This is better than TV.

I'm further disappointed that I now have to send $5 to the ransom-note author.
As for Mr. K - I think it's time to retire the "UNFAIR" plate in favor of...

I say we sue KC. One too many "frunkensteins."
I wonder if KK will ever post here again? Kinda like that GreyGoose guy who was claiming how great ObamaCare was, and smugly posted about how easily he signed up for it on the first day (when everyone else in the country met with a crashed system). Turns out that he signed up at a scam site that mirrored the real one, but with a .org ending instead of .gov. Never heard from Goosey again after that one.

One more attorney to enter the fray!
Just step back and think about walking into a courtroom to demand damages over a used car purchase that didn't go right. No written warranty with an almost insurmountable presumption that the car was sold as-is, where is.
Tell me what look you imagine on the judge's face. I'm not a litigator, but I would buy OP a beer, express my deepest sympathies, and refuse the case.

I think you made a good choice. Replacing the motor isn't fun or cheap but you also bought the rest of the car and you sound pretty happy with that. In the end you'll have a much better car and this time it will be your engine and you won't have that issue to worry about.

Had a new Miata in my Driver Skills group back in March. Nice looking little car. Wouldn't trade my 996 for one though...
As for OP's misfortune, sincere condolences and if you're ever in the Seattle area, look me up and the first pitcher of beer is on me. (Small consolation I know.)
